The 24 rules to succeed that left the successful Wall Street investor Richard Jenrette before dying

in #teardrops7 years ago

Richard Jenrette was a successful man in the business world of New York, United States

He was even described by The New York Times as "the last gentleman on Wall Street."

He founded the investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette with a couple of partners in 1959, was executive director of the insurance company Equitable Life until he retired in 1996 and was also a lover of the restoration of old homes, founding the Classical American Homes Preservation Trust in 1993.

In addition, he wrote the book "The Contrarian Manager" (The opposite manager) in which he offers lessons he learned and unorthodox approaches that he adopted in his 40-year career that made him a Wall Street legend.

This American who died last April 22 at the age of 89 at his home in Charleston, South Carolina, did not want to leave this world without leaving a message.

Written by hand with an almost illegible handwriting, Jenrette left a list of 24 rules on his desk, according to him, to succeed, not only in business, but in life.

These are Jenrette's advice to which BBC Mundo had access.

"What I learned (how to achieve success and have a long and happy life)"

  1. Do not give up. It is usually all you have to do. Do not give up. Do not be of those who leave!

  2. Do not burn bridges (behind you).

  3. Remember: life has no greater blessing than a good friend.

You will never have enough.
Never leave an old friend. You could need it.

  1. Try to be nice and say "thank you" often.

  2. Stay informed. Do not stop learning!

  3. Study. Be educated Do your homework! Keep on studying!

  4. Grow friends of all ages, especially younger.

  5. Prepare everything you can.

  1. Be proud, but not cocky. Know your own value

  2. Make a plan in advance, but be prepared to leave if opportunities arise.

  3. Convert problems into opportunities. It can usually be achieved. Problems create opportunities for change. People are willing to consider changes when there are problems.

  4. You must always be presentable. Clean, shaved and well dressed according to your age. Attentive to style and fashions. Look for charming. Watch your mouth. Do not insult too much, it's not nice.

13.But be open to change, do not get stuck in the mud. Consider what is new, but do not follow it blindly. USE YOUR HEAD - COMMON SENSE.

  1. Have fun, but not all the time!

  2. Always be on the side of good.

  3. Have an alternative plan. Do not have all the money in one place.

  4. Learn a language.

  5. Travel a lot, if possible around the world.

  6. Do not criticize someone in front of other people.

  7. Do not forget to praise a job well done (but do not praise a bad job)

  8. Nobody likes to lose, but do not be a bad loser if it touches you.

22.Help have someone who loves you and whom you love too (not just sex).

  1. Keep your standards high in everything you do.

  2. Look at the big picture, but do not forget the little details.
