"Sliding Doors"
A shy lady hides, blended in life
Scars that scream, a mistreated wife
Eyes darting round, doing her chores
Slowly approaching, the sliding doors
An older man, his lifetime a slave
Working odd jobs, just to get paid
His tired disposition, showing his cause
Slowly approaching, the sliding doors
An orphaned child, lessons to learn
Ambition in streams, waiting his turn
Games he will play, learning his flaws
Slowly approaching, the sliding doors
Paths they combine, crowd now in shock
Gunman who fires, at random live stock
They cuddle in close, heads low to floor
Protecting each other, individuals no more
Room sleeps silent, world again still
Slowly they rise, combining their will
Moment of chance, survivors in blood
Life long connection, their forever love
Lessons of life, many sliding doors
We each live our way, life makes us pause
Sum of our parts, when we truly combine
Creates that connection, our perfect rhyme
