The Future is SO bright

Every twelve to eighteen months, computers double their capabilities, and so do the information technologies that use them.

Governments and the largest companies in the world use Ray Kurzweil's historical trends of exponential growth charts for predicting the future.

The chart to the left shows the improvement level that our technology will have during the next five years. Notice that we can clearly distinguish and reasonably intuit these eight, sixteen, and thirty-two times improved technologies, predicting the next five years.

Notice how the previous chart clearly showed a marked difference each year. Yet, when compared to the ten year span of exponential growth, that "great thirty-two times advancement in technology" is just a measly three percent gain.

So just how good is your ability to predict the changes that will occur when our capabilities become increased hundreds of times more each year? Currently, our computing power and sensor capabilities are starting to quantify cellular and molecular structures easily and cheaply, and our tools are able to manipulate molecules. Today small companies are creating the paradigm changes that were the domain of large

Spoiler: In fifty years technological advance will be a quadrillion times more advanced than today.

Think about that for a minute....you'll have to do the thinking yourself because it's beyond the capacity of journalists or politicians. Neither of whom are proactive..they only react to old news.

The internet, the meshnet, the block chain, crypto money and Steemit are tiny examples...who'd a thunk?

The technological advancements that have already been made that we haven't even heard about yet would blow our minds. In the next 5 years I can't fathom where we'll be in technological terms. Our science fiction movies are very quickly becoming science fact. The application of these advancements in healthcare, energy and transportation our 3 sectors that will change the face of humanity.

old saying..."the future ain't what it used to be"
I disagree with you about SF movies...Hollyweird is so stupid they have no clue...reality of TODAY is many times more advanced than what they depict as futuristic in many cases.

Will be interesting to see what happens to something like Moore's law when transistors hit a physical size limit. Can't make them smaller than an atom.

one thing you might not be aware of...all integrated circuits at this time are 2D...like a circuit board. Suppose they could be built 3D...like a living organism. It might come as a shock but the brain is not like a computer physically. There are no racked circuit boards inside...it's 3D.

Internet evolution is making our life much easier and exciting. we are so lucky that we are living in this era. Your post reminds, how the world is moving on. Upvoted !

The future sure is bright, there will be a lot of change. I hope we can handle it.

Is there a choice?

My son may look back to this "age" in fifty years as we do to people that lived 300+ years ago and marvel at how we got anything done.

fun fact: there has been more technological advancement in my life time than there has been previously since the dawn of civilization.

Just makes me wonder what my son will see.

upvoted nice post your voter is very important for me sir

Great post! Most people underestimate the exponential nature of technological advancement. Increasing computing power and the breakthroughs in genetic engineering will lead to a new stage of evolution.

technological change is happening MUCH faster than anyone really knows.
There are incredible advances in a huge number of fields...anyone of which will have unexpected consequences..

Cool maybe politicians will become obsolete .... an unexpected but delightful consequence should it happen lol

Great post..

Great !
development of science and technology is in high speed. Your forecast is true.
