Why I've bought an iPhone 6S Plus a few weeks ago (that's so 2016)

in #tech8 years ago (edited)

If you read my articles until now, you will already know I'm a tech enthuziast. When it comes to smartphones, this is no exception, always looking for the newest and the best features and specifications. I don't buy devices like a mad man, but I love looking at reviews and always having a personal opinion on the market.

I've started my journey with a Motorola V3x phone. That was the high end device of it's time (oh man!). After that I had some Nokia devices and after that my first Android device (the LG L7). I've become an Android fanboy since then. When I think back at those and think about how bulky or slow they were, I'm laughing already but also stay amazed about how far the smartphone tech got forward.

Coming to the present time, since 2013 and until now I can see in the smartphone market that the lifetime of a device is longer (you can still use a high end phone after 3 years and it's still "fast"). I own an Oneplus One since 2014

And, to get on point with the subject, I recently bought an iPhone 6S Plus. "Why 6S Plus?", you may ask. Let me tell you my reasons:

First of all, I've needed a new phone (duh!)

My old devices was a bit weared out, the screen had some scratches, the screen had some dead pixels. It's still usable and I will always praise Oneplus for making a great device at a great price! It's the end of 2016 and I have a custom Android Nougat ROM flashed on it, as fast as other high end phones from today. I sometimes laugh of friends with their Galaxy S7's.

Second of all, I needed something reliable and secure

I've always liked how iOS is one of the most reliable operating systems up to date. I wanted my next phone to always let me do whatever I've wanted with just a few taps, and put it back in my pocket, with no crashes, no slowdowns. These days, also working with more then a few crypto currency apps, bank apps and paypal, I've put my confidence in iOS.

Third of all, the build quality

Yes, I may sound like an Apple sheep, but I've chosen the iPhone for it's build quality. I've come to learn that even the animations are well thought and different from an Android device. The swipe up or down for your keayboard, the gestures for going back, everything.

Last, but not least, the price

We need to take in consideration that an used iPhone 6S Plus where I'm from is about 500$. A new iPhone 7 Plus is about 100$.
So I was thinking what I get extra for those money and I came tot the conclusion that is not worth it for me. A new display (not new, but with better color reproduction), a new camera system (this was nice, but still, I only use it for Instagram) and the performance (I think the last generation is still fast and because I'm not playing a lot of intensive games, I don't need the extra power)

In the end, as a conclusion, should you buy the iPhone 7 Plus or the 6S Plus? If you use it just for the usual tasks and social media, get the 6S and go to a vacation with the rest of the money! If money are not a problem with you, get the 256 GB iPhone 7 and brag about it, also, go to a vacation. Personally, I will get the iPhone 8 (or what name it will have) and not thinking about changing it for the next few years. Until now, I'm happy with my purchase and with the extra fund I have!

What is your opinion? Are you an Android fanboy or an Apple enthuziast? I'm already seeing some arguing in the comments! :)
