To finally impose itself in the world of social networks, Google would have decided to transform Youtube into a social network in its own right.
If there is one area in which Google is still struggling to break through, it is social networks. Mountain View has tried it well with Google Plus, but despite a large number of registered (artificially inflated it must be said), the mayonnaise never took.
The firm has not abandoned its hustle and bustle and instead of starting from a blank page, it would have decided to use YouTube's unusual popularity to finally break into this sector.
YouTube will soon compete with Facebook
According to the information of Venture Beat, a team of engineers of Google would work on the project Backstage with the original ambition to transform the platform of video sharing social network.
For that, YouTube would be grafted with a host of small additional features that will allow its users to push a little further the interactions. This will allow each user to post messages, polls and videos (not posted on his YouTube channel). Publications that will take the form of a news feed shared with the followers. It will of course be possible to comment on the publications, either with text but also with photos or videos.
Upcoming test phase
A test phase of Backstage should soon be implemented among the most popular Youtubeurs in order to validate the interest of the Net surfers for this type of tool. This would capture Youtubeurs on the platform, they often use other social networks to keep in touch with their fan community.
For now, all this is only rumored, but if Backstage were to be formalized, it would be a good nose to Facebook that increasingly encroaches on the YouTube platforms in terms of Video sharing. More than ever, the war between the two giants seems to be launched!
Im already on Youtube all the time

Just what we need, ANOTHER social media platform. That could be cool, I guess. Maybe they want to compete with Steemit.
