Tech problems week

Hello lads, here is some overview of my week problems with tech XD.

To start with, few days ago my laptop died, it is dell studio 1555, 7-8 years old one. With press of a power button it started for a second and then shout down, next time there was no picture on the screen and fans were spinning, then came the noise, 7 beeps of death..

With quick search I have found out that its gpu failure. Tried opening chase and pulling out BIOS battery just for case maybe something have been messed up to reset it. But no luck, on next powering we have 2 beeps for bios reset and again 7 for gpu so no luck..

After taking all apart, there were no signs that something have burned etc. So i think that solder on the gpu memory went bad or something so i will give a try with some re-balling or heating the modules.

Then the next one was on my job. Colleague said that something is a bit off with his computer and when I looked up and there was BSOD ( blue screen of death ) restarted it few times but nothing, couldn't just go through bot process and would ask for repair and system check but nothing helped. We tried with usb installation and trying to rebuild windows from that as on the hdd were some business files that are important so new installation and wiping all wasn't option ( only 1 partition...)
Next thing we tried was hirens boot usb, it pretty useful program I have been using it in long time, it has lot of control and test programs and mini windows. First we had run memtest and it was fine, next we tried to start mini windows (win XP lol) but did not work either, it would just crash and showed BSOD again..

But there is also some kind of portable linux and that worked, all files are saved and on safe now, it was pretty amazing as we were using linux for the first time but its pretty simple.
Next was formatting the disc and finally installing new win on the notebook. :)

Then comes the fun part, repairing PS3, the problem was that it would just shout down in middle of a game... First assumption was that fan was problem, as a friend told me that he had repaired few ps3 with burned fan, but it was working ok, then I took all things apart and cleaned it.

Probably problem was due old thermal paste which was hardened and not evenly applied I only had mx2 paste on the side so that will do the trick.

After fresh paste and assembly it came the moment will it turn on :D, and machine is happily working right now, have played few games and no unexpected shutdown yet.

And the last one was with mining rig, a small one , 3x rx470 it is in a room and was connected with wifi but couldnt get stable signal and got disconnected every few hours on 5-10min.. So got 50m utp cable and thats it :D.

Sure its more than I will need but maybe in future we will move rig to basement so just in case :D. Also did a little decorating of apartment XD

"when mining is life.."

Also here are a little speed-test for the cable but there were no difference between 5m cable and 50m in speed, with utp(cat5e) is recommended not to be longer than 100m.

Cheers guys and stay true. :)
