Recently I've got a notification from my android handset exclaiming how my text messages will be automatically saved to google servers?
I don't want or need google "backing up" my SMS data to their cloud, nor did I explicitly consent to that - how delete?
I'm after disabling this "backup sms to cloud" stuff that's been crammed down my settings, not shutting up notifications
I'm after a means to ensure my text messages aren't being automatically saved to google's servers without my consent.
Unless they can prove to me that they aren't using that data to sell to third parties and whatever other dumb stuff they do, I don't want google storing any of my data that I haven't explicitly personally uploaded to Google drive.
I went out of my way to make sure all this shady cloud business was disabled when I started using this phone a few years ago backup was enabled for just long enough to transfer phones, and then disabled because it didn't perform the task adequately
There's a level at which that's innately unavoidable, and there's levels of which are a gross overreach.
You wanna keep a log of search queries tied to my IPs tied to my gmail? I can't stop that. You want to steal texts off of my phone out of the blue without my consent? That's pretty sketch!
Yay! 🤗
