Raspi Boy : Retro handheld emulation consol using Raspberry Pi zero

in #technologie7 years ago (edited)

Hi steemians

The console that rocked my childhood is back in pocket size. The Raspi Boy offers an original solution around a trendy subject, the emulation of old consoles. The idea here is not only to let you play old titles in mobility but also to understand and assemble your own console from prefabricated elements.

what is Raspberry Pi ?

The Raspberry Pi is a nano-SBC ARM processor designed by David Braben video games, as part of its foundation Raspberry Pi2.
This computer, which has the size of a credit card, is designed to encourage the teaching of basic computer science in schools learning computer programming; it allows the execution of several variants of the GNU / Linux-Debian free operating system and compatible software. But also with Microsoft Windows OS: Windows 10 IoT Core and Android Pi,
Multiple versions have been developed, the latest are sold just over 30€ for the Pi 2 (2015), 38€ for the Pi 3 (2016) and 5€ for the Raspberry Zero (2016).(For more information about Raspberry pi)

The Raspi Boy:

Pierre-Louis Boyer who is the creator of the Raspi Boy, he decided to create an alternative solution. Less complex to assemble, and without welding, it is based on a development card Raspberry Pi zero 5€ and simple components ready for use, it will not take more than 5 minutes and arround 70€ to get the essential components for assembling the RaspiBoy.
that's how we can learn about coponents while building our pocket console ....isn't that amazing to be for 5min consol builde9hoursr.(You can check all the components Raspi Boy)

Featuring :

The Raspi Boy offers a lot of interesting features in addition to its classic portability:

  • HDMI output to connect RaspiBoy to your big TV.
  • Micro USB for charging the battery, Up to 9 hours of battery life.
  • Play up to 4 players by connecting any USB gamepads.
  • Desktop computer mode: you can exit the simulation station and use RaspiBoy as a desktop computer by connecting to a monitor ( Raspberry Pi is running linux)
  • Headset connector
  • 3 USB connectors for connect USB gamepads and keyboard.
  • 4 LED's for battery level.
  • Raspberry-pi GPIO button for more advanced features

I like the idea behind this project the fact to use components for build your consol, the RaspiBoy project has already collected nearly 18 000 € on the 50 000 € requested. There are still packs in Early Birds to get the console for 59 € and other packs with different options (more battery, MicroSD card 16 GB ...).

Please let me know in the comments what do you think about this Project, don't to forget to follow me @mro & resteem if you like this post.

This is awesome. Thanks for providing some information on the Raspi Boy. I have been interested in these types of projects for a while now, but not confident enough to attempt one myself.

Resteemed to 800+ followers (mostly gamers) because I think this article is cool and we need to support gamers around here more.

Thank you for resteeming this post !! Gamers are a minority in steemit!!
I am thinking of buying The Raspiboy ( after earning some SBD ahaha ) and then i will do live streaming
to explain how it works.
