A company in Wisconsin is to become the first in the US to microchip employees
Three Square Market has offered to implant the tiny radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip into workers' hands free-of-charge. The rice grain-sized $300 (£230) chip will enable its bearer to open doors, log in to their computers among other thinks.
While unravelling this latest technology the company believes more and more people will soon be wanting their own microchip.
Three Square provides self-service micro markets to businesses all around the world. The company got this new idea from the already existing micro-chipping prevalent in Sweden where the so-called 'bio-hackers' have been inserting micro-chip in the hands of willing volunteers for the past three years. Three Square Market are now working with BioHax, to deliver this never-seen-before technology. The innovative technology is thought of as another payment and identification method in the near future. When this happens, participants would only have microchip between their thumb and finger instead of a credit card or phone.
While many of us might see this new innovation as worrying, it seems those at Three Square Market had no such worries as 50 out of their 85 employees at the company's head office have come forward.
