Bill Gates, the world's wealthiest individual and co-founder of Microsoft is intending to construct a 'smart city' just outside of Phoenix, Arizona desert. The tech billionaire's investment group, Cascade Investment, paid about $80 million for a stake in a 24,800-acre of land development which is found only 45 minutes outside of Phoenix, called Belmont.
The desert land is altogether under development. However, designers Belmont Partners intend to construct 80,000 homes, 3,800 acres of industrial zone, workplaces, and retail space. Furthermore, 470 acres of land for public schools will likewise be allocated, leaving around 3,400 sections of land of open land.
