We all know how fast the technology is growing . Nowadays there are thousands of computer games that are available to play and some of them are specifically created for Virtual Reality experience.
What is VR ?
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer technology that uses virtual reality headsets or multi-projected environments, sometimes in combination with physical environments or props, to generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulate a user's physical presence in a virtual or imaginary environment. A person using virtual reality equipment is able to "look around" the artificial world, and with high quality VR move around in it and interact with virtual features or items.
History of VR - Where does it come from ?
VR as we know it today has been kicking around for decades. The technology has been used for all sorts of things over its 200 years from science and medicine to training pilots and helping architects present their latest skyscraper, allowing people to experience walking through it before a brick has been laid.Yes, the current focus might be largely on gaming, but that's not all that VR is good for. VR has plenty of applications and this is only likely to expand as the technology develops further.
Does VR help people or does it harm ?
Virtual Reality can be both good and bad for your health like everything else there are advantages and disadvantages while/when using VR.
Good Effects - Benefits :
- Pain Management
- Stress Management
- Exercise ( VR is often used for exercises )
- Helps Relieve Chronic Pain
Bad Effects :
- Staring at the VR Headset Screen for a long time may cause Eye Strain and Fatigue.
- Dizziness and Motion Sickness.
- Nausea
Other great uses of VR
- Medical Training
For centuries doctors have had to practice on cadavers or rely on books to master procedures. Using VR, the doctor may repeat a procedure many times to perfect the technique and commit the steps to memory more efficiently.
Treating patients with Phobias
Rehabilitation
One of the more stunning results of virtual reality training is the work being done with paralysis. Through VR, patients who see themselves from a third-person perspective using their affected limb can actually regain movement and improve mobility.
- Social Psychology
Enhancing human interaction through virtual reality sounds like a paradox. How can you improve communication by secluding yourself in an alternate reality? Practice makes perfect. For example, children on the autism spectrum, who often have difficulty in social situations, can use avatars and virtual reality to work on social cues and express socially acceptable behavior.
- Conferencing
Think Skype for Business on steroids. VR has the potential to bring digital workers together in digital meetings and conferences.
- Convenience
VR can save organizations time and money and make work more convenient. Workers won’t have to travel in order to make decisions and complete projects. For example, architects from across the globe can use virtual reality to evaluate designs.
Conclusion
Virtual reality gives us the ability to experience the virtually created environment on the best way possible as it we were there . It uses a host of technologies to achieve this goal and is a technically complex feat that has to account for our perception and cognition. VR has good amount of advantages and disadvantages. The technology is growing in a fast rate and we should expect new improvements to VR any time soon.
Thanks everyone for reading. I appreciate the support and feedback I've been receiving.

Great post. I am really looking forward to further development of VR. Gaming and exercising are gonna become one and the same. Imagine being a medieval knight for 2 hours every day. Now that is some quality exercise.
Oh yeah ! That is some wild exercise right there = ) I just hope VR technology is gonna improve even more with time because there also some disadvantages in using VR. Other than that VR is being used for great things too .
great post!
Thank you for the feedback = ) I really appreciate the support. Stay tuned for more .
I am all for Virtual Reality that creates in a passionate way to help support humanity. It is the intrusive form I am not to thrilled about. But, I am choosing how I personally create with it and that is my contribution.
Great post @castbound.
I have seen these Virtual Reality but I have never actually tried it myself or really knew anything about them, so thanks for sharing this great information with us.
I really didn't think there were good benefits from this VR so I was actually really surprised to see how it can actually benefit some people.
Its quite surprising that VR has many advantages.I just hope the VR technology is gonna improve even more than it is now so it actually becomes much more safer than right now. Thanks for the feedback , I really appreciate it = )
