Ripple is a name of peer 2 peer network with its own digital currency, the XRP . Ripples or XRP's equipped with a necessary liquidity within the network of complex financial transfer and server as a bridging currency for international payments between especially simplifying complex financial institution
What Benefits of Ripple?
1-Built-in currency exchange
2-No need to mine
3-Alias system (users known by nicknames rather than gibberish numbers)
4-Ability to issue your own IOU (aka colored coins)
5-And if this ain't enough for you - check out NXT :-) (which also does private messaging, stock / asset issuance, digital goods marketplace, and very soon voting and side-chains (they call it MS) )
You will probably get some poor feedback on here. Ripple is too centralized for some people, and if they know a little about the history of it, some of them will still have a bad taste in their mouth. It also has helping banks on it's mind. NXT, until it can be proven with side-chains, it will not be worth the investment yet. It has internal bickering as well as any other crypto.
But i don't think so
A better question is why should you NOT invest in XRP? If you're investing purely in things because they make money and not because you support the tech, that is.
As @bryner mentioned, tech-wise it's too centralized for some people and has a not-so-great history.
You almost might as well be investing in a regular/regulated bank.
