Twitter announced Monday that cryptocurrency advertisements would be banned from the website starting Tuesday.All ads related to initial coin offerings (ICOs), token sales, exchanges and wallet services - excluding public companies listed on major stock markets - will be removed from the site, according to the announcement. A spokesperson said the move is aimed at "ensuring the safety of the Twitter community," according to CNBC.
The social media giant explained:
"We have added a new policy for Twitter Ads relating to a cryptocurrency. Under this new policy, the advertisement of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and token sales will be prohibited globally."
With the recent comments from Jack Dorsey about bitcoin being the single world currency of the future this move surprised me. Although when I think about it, it does go with that principal of bitcoin being the one. If bitcoin is the one then all these other ones can't be.

I don't believe that BTC will be "the one". Besides, most crypto coins aren't strictly currencies, they are some other form of coin or token. They can be used to exchange value, but for a specific purpose.
Many ICOs are very good, but there have certainly been far too many poor ones these last few months. I would like to see fewer, higher quality ICOs, like those that the NEO platform encourages.
In my opinion this could be the reason of the fake ICO's announcements means scammers are increasing and secondly could be an action against Cryptocurrencies but in my opinion it's good for Steemit Platform because the Crypto Advertisers can move into Steemit and if they join and promote their ICO's here then it will good for the advertisers and in turn it's helpful for growth of Steemit Platform. Twitter taking more steps towards censoring the platform and curating their own insular ideological social media bubble. Not surprising, and exactly the type of activity that has been driving people away from the site for years. It's been interesting to watch.
