This type of technology has been used with lasers to connect buildings and offer better internet backbone services in congested areas. For example you can shoot low powered lasers across New York City to temporarily or permanently hook up buildings where permitting and laying a fiber optic cable to too costly or slow. Laser tech might also be used for more secure initiatives, or greater bandwidth via satellite ect.
