A field closely related to artificial intelligence, using machine learning upon (NMR) nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of exhaled breath condensate, researchers from India, Delhi have been finally able to not only improve the diagnosis of childhood asthma but also identify three subtypes of asthma.
This really makes the current understanding of childhood asthma towards having subtypes metabolomic, which had been hugely unknown yet.
Dr. Anurag Agrawal led a team of researchers from Delhi’s CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrated Biology (IGIB) and from IIIT-Delhi and AIIMS Dr. Tavpritesh Sethi has now gained a line of victory. Finally The researchers team had been able to correctly identify children with asthma and their subtypes.
The research included eight nine children with astama problem below 18 years and twenty years healthy individuals with no clinical manifestation of asthma or history to check the NMR signatures of children with asthmatic problem; the NMR spectra of sixtyone children with asthmatic had clinical data were used for checking the subtypes. Dr. Koundinya Desiraju from CSIR-IGIB says the children have been followed up for 5 years now.
