Welcome all to this briefly introduction to chatbots.
We will explain what are chatbots, the advantages over apps and where we can find them.
What are chatbots
Chatbots are just programs. They chat with the user by using text commands.
The user send commands.
They reply to them, sending what the user asked for.
This is a simple chatbot in Telegram.
We asked for Bach music so we received a list of songs composed by him.
Where can we find them
Almost every messaging app supports chatbots (Discord, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, ...).
However they have different use cases in the various platform.
In Messenger, they mostly cover customer relationship.
In Discord and Telegram, they cover entertainment.
In Slack, they integrate services.
Why using them
They're so much powerful, mostly because:
- They are platform agnostic. (we don't care if the user is using a smartphone or a desktop)
- We don't need to download anything
- They are easy to develop
- We don't need to learn a new interface
Which bots do you use daily? Share them in comments.
