The Browning Hi-Power is a single-action, semi-automatic handgun available in 9 mm and .40 Smith & Wesson calibers. It is based on a design by the famous American firearms designer John Browning who died in 1926, several years before the design was finalized. It was completed by Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale (FN) of Herstal, Belgium in 1935 and is still in production.
It is one of the most widely used military pistols in history, having been used by the military forces of over 50 countries. The Hi Power name is somewhat misleading and may refer to its 13-round magazine capacity; almost double that of the Luger or Mauser 1910.
The Hi Power's pistol grip might also be the most ergonomic of any handgun. It is slim, trim and just about the perfect weight for carrying, the gun is almost perfectly balanced. This, together with the grip, makes the Hi Power one of the easiest-shooting, easiest-to-control 9 mm pistols in the world.

"The will to blog post is greater than steem"
Nice Piece... love Hitchcok45's channel as well... thanks.
Was John Browning's "improvement on 1911 .45 cal."....theoretically. I always felt it was more that Europe was simply locked into 9mm, which it is to this day.
LOVE this pistol....but if you ever get one, remove the magazine safety. It's a pain in the a**.
Thanks for the useful info!
My pleasure brother. Just way too much random gun info in my brain. LOL
Nice post @darthnava and i like you,i follow you..
Thank you for following me.
Very cool; but I think the high power is double/single action?
Single action semi automatic. Single action means the hammer must be cocked, as opposed to say a Beretta where the hammer can be down and pulling the trigger will pull the hammer back and release it forward.
After the first round is fired, the semi automatic aspect will blowback the slide cocking the weapon every time and making it ready for hammer release at the next trigger pull.
Good informative comment, buddy.
cool; haven't handled a high power and did not know that. I have a Jericho 941 and assumed the high power was similar
Handling is similar @ramseyman, just the functioning is a little...."older." Because it was loosely based on the 1911 .45 design, it didn't incorporate the double action capability that other 9mm handguns had been using.
Both the .45 and the BHP when being carried for immediate use are carried in the configuration commonly known as "cocked and locked." Which is hammer back, safety on (which blocks the hammer from dropping), in the holster....and the term is technically backwards since you lock and in the process it cocks the weapon. But I've always heard it as cocked and locked.
Sounds a lot scarier than it is, but a lot of people prefer a DA because carrying with the hammer back feels scarier. Course if they have a Glock, then technically the hammer is back on that as well....if it had a hammer. But it's the same configuration for carry.
Followed you for being smart at guns!
LMAO.....well it was a big part of my adult life.
So anytime you have ANY gun questions, throw 'em at me brother.
Awesome handguns take care of it
Impressive handgun! But I really fear for it..
Don't fear the gun, don't even fear the nut with the gun. Feel secure knowing that you own and can operate a firearm so that you don't have to fear. But really even without a gun you shouldn't fear, for we are living during the most peaceful period which life on Earth has ever experienced.
Thanks for your view..
wow that is Gorgeous one..
Nice gun. please follow the line "Gun don't kill people, people kill people"
Damn right!
Is it cost effective?
I don't know much about gun prices, but if it used by military units in many countries since its manufacture then that means it is.
Yes its a good gun too because of its quality and design.
@darthnava
Do you own a gun?
No, I am not rich yet or in danger to own one.
You can start with a pellet gun tho, cheaper and fun for target practice.
I used to own one but now I cannot even lift it.
Amazing, i am follow you @darthnava
