I love thinking about space travel and theoretical ways to overcome the velocity issues. One other thing that can be done is to slingshot vessels to higher speeds by using spacial orbits around planets and stars.

Yeah gravity slings are pretty awesome and can be used to slow us down as well, they are not so much a means of direct propulsion and so I didn't cover them in this post. :)
