It's estimated that 9 in 10 Americans are already using a variety of services, devices, and programs, that feature artificial intelligence to some extent.
Previous studies have discovered that roughly 3 out of 4 Americans believe artificial intelligence will greatly influence changes in society, as far as how we go about living our daily lives.
There are many industry experts and others who have expressed concerns for the increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence being used.
However, those fears are also balanced by the excitement that many others have expressed, with regard to how AI might be able to enhance our way of living in many ways.
Despite all of the Terminator-influenced fears that many hold when they think about AI, industry experts insist that we shouldn't overlook the improvements that it might be able to bring about.
They suggest that those who are closely involved with development, investment, and research in this area etc, are also equally concerned about such unintended consequences arising in the future.
According to a previous IDC report, it's estimated that the artificial intelligence market is expected to pass $46 billion in spending by 2020.
Some are obviously more enthusiastic about the rise of AI than others.
In a recent survey that involved over 2000 Americans, at least 50 percent of the respondents from coastal regions like New York and San Francisco, responded that they'd be excited about the growing prevalence of AI. As for the Midwest, it was about 19 percent that said they were excited. The South reported roughly 17 percent excitement at the prospect.
As for those who hate the idea, at least 27 percent in the Midwest said they weren't looking forward to it. With the South, about 33 percent said they thoroughly hated the idea. This is surprising to some, considering that many of these Americans have already embraced using AI in their daily lives.
When asked about what priority AI research and development should be focused on, many agreed that it should be healthcare.

Great post @doitvoluntarily ! The scariest part is that "We may be using it and not even knowing it!" and of course the "Unintended consequences that can arise in the future from this technology!" These are the times we are living in..😳😱😲 upped earlier and resteemed
I dont think running from it will save you lol!🏃
The problem here is that there is no AI.
There is expert systems.
The even bigger problem is who do these expert systems work for?
Well, you, the consumer are at the bottom of the list.
Fortunately, the raspberry pie / linux AI community will create something that will eclipse everything Boogle (the alphabet agencies) is trying to accomplish. They will do so by one simple fact, they will work on the AI serving the customer. Something that BigBrother can't even fathom.
@evileddy argues that what makes AI AI is sentience and self awareness. A learning algorithm is not AI. Maybe that is just a science fiction classification of AI and the fear would come from Skynet/Irobot mania?
I can see AI demonized like GMOs, MSG and peanuts. Plants that are modified to resist disease, produce more and contain more nutrients have become alien experiments in some people's minds. Mono sodium Glutemate is only bad for you when you are allergic to it and peanutbutter is the same with the allergin created as a byproduct of the processing and not the nut.
That is loose science I know but all of those things are unjustly painted with the same brush and I hope learning algorithms don't get demonized because we are Terminator fans.
The technological advance well used is very favorable, there is evidence of many things that have changed our lives, if this is the case, welcome the artificial intelligence.
Thank you very much dear friend @ doitvoluntarily for sharing this news
I wish you a great day
not surprising that the coasts are more openminded. the midwest and south are obviously more close minded and slower to change. interestingly enough, i'd never thought of google maps or netflix as AI programs... but yeah i guess they are. personally, i think integrating it into certain aspects of our lives is okay, but let's not take it too far. i'll have to see what comes into focus before i can give specifics, but let's keep it mostly human :)
Where does a program just following algorithms stop and actual artificial intelligence start?
Reading this post made me question this. Overall, I do not mind having A.I. in our life and think that a co-existence between humans and machines can be a wonderful experience for both parties.
.....he said, already humanizing the A.I.s.
I think that a lot of people having trouble coming around with A.I. because the entertainment industry has made a fortune with demonizing A.I.s over the course of decades. Terminator being the most obvious example here.
I don't think it has to be this way.
How I study like you, because I want to learn as you do now
I wish the Sophia robot hadn't said, "Okay, I will destroy humans."
Please do not call Sophia a robot. It is an animatronic that requires a person to tell it when to respond.
Noted. Just called it a robot since Hanson Robotics calls it that. Good things to you.
That is amazing!!............
buen trabajo,ya veo como avanza la tecnologia, saludos
AI is dangerous because we are essentially creating something that is able to think for itself and is there a 100% guarantee that it won't be our own undoing?
Hi sir could you please suggest something for VFX expert as my brother is an expert of it.
Thanks
Americans are divided over whether they accept regular intelligence. Have you ever listened to a country song?
This is a great piece. There are so many ways for art. intelligence to make our lives easier. But I think it's such a scary idea for many people because we are not always aware of how companies are using the information gathered from artificial intelligence programs. That information can be shared with ad companies. From there, there's no way of knowing where that info will go. If you search your name on personal info sites like Spokeo, much of the information that is available there has been gathered from ad companies.
The way I see things is AI is either going to be radically positive in which case we will be fine, or radically negative, in which case we will be dead...
