The SaaS model, Software-as-a-Service, is spreading widespread thanks to the simplicity with which it is possible to scale architecture in relation to workloads and contained costs compared to traditional solutions.
In these cases, the applications usually run in data centers to which the branches connect via cloud via SD-WAN (Software Defined Wide Area Networking), thus extending the corporate LAN. This approach brings with it some limitations from the safety point of view since the sites can be vulnerable to fifth generation multi-vector attacks, such as WannaCry .
CheckPoint has developed solutions to secure these architectures: Check Point CloudGuard Connect and Check Point CloudGuard Connect Edge, which are part of Check Point Branch Office Security.
What do Check Point CloudGuard Connect do?
CheckPoint CloudGuard Connect and CheckPoint CloudGuard Connect Edge are cloud services that are installed with extreme simplicity on the corporate network and that divert the entire network traffic to one of the servers managed by CheckPoint that will analyze it blocking any threats encountered . The impact on network performance is practically nil, considering that CheckPoint declares a latency of less than 50 milliseconds .
The advantages of relying on cloud solutions like these are the speed with which security measures can be implemented and low management costs compared to a dedicated solution, which also requires a dedicated IT team to manage it. The CheckPoint estimates indicate a saving of 40% on OpEx (operating expenses) and 20% on CapEx (those of capital, relating for example to the purchase of machinery).
" The transition to SD-WAN requires integrated security to protect businesses from Gen V threats. Companies expect maximum security even at the branch " - said Itai Greenberg, Vice President of Product Marketing and Management at Check Point - " With CloudGuard Connect and CloudGuard Edge, companies can now implement Check Point's most popular threat prevention and intelligence to protect their branches from the latest Zero Day and Gen V threats ."
