Basically, Firewall is a hardware or software that act as a security gate, from which data must pass. It protects your computer from unauthorized remote access. Furthermore, it can block messages linking to unwanted content or even malicious messages. In addition to that, it creates a safe environment for you to work online. Moreover, unsuitable and immoral content can also be blocked by a firewall.
Most Operating Systems comes with a pre-installed firewall and most antivirus also provide firewall protection.
Keep your guard up!
Even with antivirus and firewall, there is still a chance that you may get infected with malware or virus. So, to protect from that you have to be cautious every time when doing online work. Be safer than sorry.
Always check for https at the beginning of a URL with a padlock sign. It means that the website use certified encryption such SSL or TSL and your data is secure in these sites. Do not insert a USB, Floppy or CD into your computer that is from an unknown source without scanning it. Even if it is from your best friend, there are still chances that it may contain viruses. So, again be safer than sorry and scan it before using.
