The future of data communications

I've been investing much of my free time examining the history of communications and current technologies. So the next logical question would be:

  • Where do we go from here?
  • What can we expect to see in the future?

Exotic and fantastic predictions has been made in the past, but they probably are no more fantastic than today's realities that appeared to others a few decades ago. To the not so distant ancients (and maybe some worthy travellers today), the concept of spacecraft circling the earth transmitting television pictures and telephone conversations was science fiction. The prospect that light and sound could be used to transmit picture and sound was like science fiction.

Certainly the very idea that computers could "talk" to one another was absurd, maybe even as some still experience today a little scary to people who spend most of their free time watching movies, back then probably about computers taking control over the world.

The fact is that much of what we will see in the future already exist today. It is just that many products that are technologically feasible today are not always that economically feasible on a large scale. So we kind of get stuck with the same questions, what can we look forward to?

Embedding Internet technology into common devices

It may surprise some to know that 98% of all processors do not reside inside your PC or smart phone.
