Earlier this year, Tesla exceeded both Ford and General Motor’s market cap. Tesla’s market cap currently hovering around $60 billion. This makes Tesla the most valuable car company in the U.S. Some analyst did expect this to happen but not this fast. How did this happen when in 2016 Tesla made a loss of $675million? With Ford who made a profit of $9.4million and GM with $4.6million in the same year. Tesla is growing. In 4 years Tesla’s sales have grown 400%, while Ford and GM’s sales made minor increments.
THE PLAN
Tesla gets over 400k in preorders of the model 3, and with all that action Tesla buys SolarCity. With the SolarCity acquisition, Tesla announces they are going to make their own batteries and they announce the first Gigafactory. This in physical footprint is the largest building in the world. Elon Musk states with just 100 Gigafactories will be enough to power the whole world. Then comes the Tesla Powerwall, which will go inside a home to provide power storage for your home through your solar panels, from a power company, or from a Tesla Solar Roof. All of a sudden you realize there is more than that meets the eye. Tesla is about to disrupt the energy industry. One can get power from Tesla’s Solar Roof, that stores power in the Power Wall, and then have power supplied to their home or their car. Through this method we are now 0 carbon which is great for the environment, since electric cars are only as clean as the power that supplies it. Tesla could be the future of energy.

So many people are puzzled by how well Tesla's stock continues to do, but I think it makes sense given the immense growth and potential even if they end up with losses in any given quarter or year. I haven't purchased any Tesla stock as of yet but I sure as hell wouldn't try to short it.
