Estonia might be doing it again by being the first government ICO.

Those who have been following my blog and articles will know that I have written a few articles on Estonia and how they are a Blockchain mecca and by far the country with the most advances blockchain in the world.

Estonia is doing it again.

I am saying this as Estonia might be the world first ICO or taken sale very soon. Most of us know by now that we anybody can become an e-citizen of Estonia via remote application. They might now be offering e-tokens or e-currency to their e-residency.

I think this is just amazing and in my opinion Estonia might be the most visionary country in the world when it comes to blockchain technology and using this technology to their advantage as they are already doing Voting on a blockchain since 2005.

Will Estonia be the world's first government ICO?

In my opinion, if we look at their history, I do believe they will be. I wish them all the luck and am seriously considering becoming an e-citizen :)

To quote from an article written by Vitalik Buterin (for those that does not know Vitalik is a developer and co-founder of Ethereum)

An ICO within the e-Residency ecosystem would create a strong incentive alignment between e-residents and this fund, and beyond the economic aspect makes the e-residents feel like more of a community since there are more things they can do together!

I love Estonia, and I'll be visiting soon. But I wouldn't take a proposal by one civil servant too seriously. These blockchain announcements about exotic countries are always overhyped, as if someone could simply flip a switch.

I am italian, when I read these kinds of articles and then I look at my country I want to cry..

I honestly love how the world is beginning to accept blockchain technology a lot more and creating innovation through it. Makes me remember the days when Bitcoin was just emerging and people had a bad idea of it.

Thank you so much, great content! You just got yourself a new follower ;)

Great post @jacor. thanks for sharing friends

We are (Czech republic) not so far... Suddenly.

Thanks for the post, quite informative, now I have to read your previous post, particularly interested in the e-citizen/ residency thing, certainly they are embracing this technology with opens hands

Wow!! That's interesting. I would never have pictured Estonia as such a crypto leader... I actually have a friend in Estonia... I must find out if she knows anything about crypto in general ;)

I hope you also follow me @blackbone and resteem my post.
good job !!!

That's very interesting. Estonia´s paradox: to the best of my knowledge, it is an unfriendly jurisdiction from the point of view of "ordinary" ICOs. At the same time, they are probably the most "blockchain-friendly" government in the world! Do you guys agree?

Wow! Really interesting, cheers for sharing this @jacor! I'm from Finland and I know a lot about Estonia and even some of my friends have moved to Tallinn from Helsinki, because of their better and more advanced taxation system, especially for businesses. But I didn't know all of this, sounds really interesting indeed! Upvoted, resteemed and followed. I definately need to check your older articles also.

Only 1.3 million people live there, making it easier to make changes.

And Hi from Estonia :)))

I hope the global adoption of cryptocurrencies starts to take off soon. Good luck to Estonia!

How interesting Estonia!

I like to see how the world is accepting and adapting blockchain technology, I hope more countries are going that way!

Greetings and great post!

How is this possible? Do all current citizens need to participate in the crowdsale to own a share of their own government? Can somebody buy al the tokens and essentially own Estonia?

That is the first article of you that I read for a long time (apologies for that), and you really got my curiosity. I didn't know about that happening in Europe (I would have expected more from other countries). I am wondering how this story will end (success story maybe).

Great! I wonder if estonians would have an influent community here on Steemit also, I only know @ubg. Thanks and good luck again!

I hope Estonia will provide for their e-residents blockchain e-education!

When the ICO starts I will get me for sure some of the Estcoins.

Hi @jacor :) You mom sent me over to your blog :) I enjoy her posts each and every evening .. I will be following you as I am a huge crypto fan .. have a little here and there myself :) I look forward to reading more of your posts .. Have a GREAT Friday!!! SUNSHINE247

A very timely post. Estonia, the country that launched Skype, is demonstrating its willingness to embrace the future head on. Estonia intends to establish itself as a top tier player in providing innovative products and services not only to its citizens but to a global community as well, e.g., e-Citizenship. Anyone intrested in development of governmental blockchain initiatives should definately keep an eye on this space.
