The reason we have genders for pronouns for the third person: "he and she", and not the second person "you" is for when describing scenes with several characters. In lieu of distinct pronouns that have to do with gender, you can give them nick names. If you are imagining a scenario when robots are very common, you can give them fun names. The story is going to be read by humans. So take a page out of George Loom's writing and give them names out of car parts and metal working like "Steel hide", and "Grid-saw".
