The Battery That Doesn't Die

in #technology7 years ago

When I was a child, I loved playing on my Gameboy, but I used to hate it when the battery died and there were no batteries in the house left to replace it.

Everyday I wished that I could've gotten batteries that would last forever.

Today, my wish has come true!

Allow me to introduce:

The forever battery

A cheesy name for a unique and ground breaking product.

An award winning product, created by Ossia. It is the world's first wirelessly charged AA batteries. When I say wireless, I mean it can be charged from anywhere inside your house. This is done by having transmitters that send out radio frequency signals inside your house, the batteries collect this signals and use it to stay fully charged.

Speaking to Digital Trends, Ossia CEO, Mario Obediat said:

Think of Wi-Fi, just like you have a Wi-Fi router in the home, you have a Cota transmitter. You have many low-power devices, one of them could be the AA battery … inside of it has electronics that communicate and receive power from that transmitter.

Now the question on everybody's mind is "when will we have a smartphone battery that never dies". Obediat assured us that the forever batteries are just the start and that Ossia are working with major smartphone companies to bring us smartphones that will never run out of juice.

Obediat also made mention that they are working with car companies, not for wirelessly charging electric cars (Ossia is only focused on low powered devices) but, to have the transmitters installed inside the cars, so your phone will stay fully charged while driving.

But that's still all for the future, let's just hope it's near future rather than far.

For now we have to make due with AA batteries.

I know AA batteries may not have as much of use as they used to, but this is just the start of what is some really exciting technology, and besides, I still have my Gameboy!

That is very cool and very useful! I'd use those batteries in all my dumb remote controls to start. I just had to replace the battery in my garage door opener this weekend and I had to go to a store to buy the odd sized battery in it. Tons of uses. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you liked it😊
