Growing up near Belfast this was the ubiquitous rifle carried by almost every soldier in the Northern Ireland 'troubles' conflict. It was impossible to drive for more than a few miles even outside the city in the 70s and 80s and not be stopped by a patrol bristling with SLRs(the Commonwealth name for the rifle was the Self Loading Rifle).
