Optane 800p is the fastest storage you can buy right now. It is expensive. It will be 3.5 times higher than SSD. However, it's cost money... to try state-of-the-art technology.
There was not many choices in storage. It is HDD consisting of a traditional magnetic disk or NAND type storage. The latter is known as the flash drive, the adoption model has increased in smartphones. But the NAND drive is fast, but Optane 800p is even faster.
People who are familiar with the naming Optane may recall that the type of memory. Optane memory is a memory to be used in combination with storage such as HDD to the last. Benchmark tests on models with nearly the same specifications, models replaced with Sandisk x400 or Optane 800p. Just by exchanging storage in this way, PC performance will be improved easily, so it may be called the most basic upgrade method. Upgrading storage is not as simple as accelerating every process. In above benchmark comparison, there was no difference in the time required to launch the Chrome browser, even with models equipped with Sandisk x400 or models equipped with Optane 800p. As 4K movies and Photoshop, the difference still did not take 1 second. Just replacing the storage with Optane 800p, it is felt like a very attractive upgrade that you can shorten working time. However, it is expensive anyway.
Currently, two models are available for the Optane 800p, the 58 GB model 130USD and 118 GB model 200USD.
Intel is already pursuing partnerships with major laptop makers and it is likely models that standardize the Optane 800p. It may be a dream high-speed storage for general users, until the price drop bit more.
