Google has a mission. They want to improve the speed of the internet for everyone.
You may be thinking through fiber, satellite, or some sort of other new technology to provide faster internet speeds. Not quite. Google wants to implement an algorithm that aims to control congestion in the internet.
The algorithm's concept is actually pretty simple. It simply aims to recognize when the network is overwhelmed and slow down data transfers accordingly. The technology is already in place in Google's cloud technology.
The impacts of this are surprisingly far reaching. Aside from giving us all faster internet, this would allow technological innovation and software development to proceed at a more rapid pace. With any luck, we could see this in place sometime soon.
