A new report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance has come with some startling predictions: starting in the year 2020, solar will begin to crush coal globally. By 2040, coal will be on it's death-bed.
By the year 2021, they predicted that solar power will be cheaper than coal in almost all parts of the world. They expect the price of solar energy to drop by an astounding 66% in the next 3 years. Wind energy is expected to drop by 47% as well, and offshore wind is expected to decrease by 71%. Renewable energy is soon expected to be the most affordable source of electricity on the planet. However, that wasn't the most astounding projections they made.
They saw coal generation being halved in the United States by 2040, and decreasing by 87% in Europe. This stands in stark contrast to Donald Trump's promises to bring back coal. If these promises hold true, global greenhouse gas emissions could start retreating as early as 2026.
I would certainly hope that is the case. Coal has been declining for decades now. It's basically already on it's deathbed. Unfortunately, instead of trying to train coal workers to adapt to a changing world, we have politicians that are trying to artificially prop up the coal industry.
Great point, and I totally agree. We should be helping them transition to a new economy
Es una muy buena noticia, para la tierra y su conservacion si tenemos la soluciones en nuestras manos porque no aplicarla¡
