I have written an academic paper related to Additive forming (type of a 3D printing technology that deals in manufacturing of airplanes, cars, etc.) I know 3D printing is an amazing technology but there are some drawback that have made it fall back such as porosity and mechanical stress associated with it, which in the long term would lead to fracture of the material due to the fatigue the material will undergo during its life time, because of which it's still isn't being used as widely as its potential is, but if they find a way around it, then it will be a paradigm shift in manufacturing technology similar to that we saw in household PC industry in the late 80s and early 90s.
