Samsung just announced their latest flagship phone for 2018 the Galaxy S9 but it is not a huge upgrade from the Galaxy S8 of the last year, except for the camera their is nothing which the new phone significantly better. But for an average person the 2016 phone from samsung the Galaxy S7 Edge is still a great phone to buy in 2018.

This post is a comparison between the Galaxy S8 and the S7 Edge, because there are a lot of people that are considering picking these phones.
Display:
Samsung is always famous for its awesome amoled panels and these phones are no exceptions. S8 features a beautiful 5.8" 18.5:9 Amoled Display with minimal bezels and both curved edges that look just beautiful. But for most people the display on the s7 edge is still beautiful, it features a 5.5" 16:9 Amoled Display, it also features the dual edge which looks just as beautiful. But in the display department its an easy win for the Galaxy S8.
Camera:
Camera on the both of these devices are almost identical, because of the main highlight feature of the S8 was the display. Samsung didn't improve the camera, but it is not a bad thing at all, because the camera on the S7 Edge was very impressive. They both have a 12MP f1.7 Optically Stabilised Camera, which is capable of recording 4K at 30fps and 720p at 240fps. But the front camera is different S8 has a 8MP f1.7 autofocus camera and S7 Edge features a 5MP f1.7 camera. The quality is better on the S8 camera but the S7 edge has a wider lens which can capture much more than the S8.
Battery:
Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 3000mAh battery while the S7 Edge has a 3600mAh battery. In this department the S7 Edge takes the cake. It has a bigger battery which is much better compared to 3000mAh battery of the S8. In real world S7 Edge can last a full day with almost 5 to 6 hours of screen on time, whereas the S8 will struggle to complete a full day with a single charge and has a screen on time of 4 to 5 hours.
Performance:
Being a new phone compared to the S7 edge, S8 has better internals, it has a Snapdragon 835 for USA and China and Exynos 8895 for other markets with Adreno 540 for Snapdragon variant and Mali-G71 MP20 for exynos, whereas S7 Edge has a Snapdragon 820 with Adreno 530 and Exynos 8890 with Mali-T880 MP12. They both have 4GB of Ram. In easy language they both are really smooth phone but S8 being a new phone is slightly more responsive then the S7 Edge.
Extras:
Starting from the fingerprint scanner, the one on the S7 Edge is at the front and is really easy to use, the same cannot be said for the S8, the placement is not ideal but its there. S8 has some additional bio metric security features like Facial Recognition and Iris Scanner which the S7 edge lacks. S8 has a newer port for charging USB-C and S7 has a micro-usb which is not bad either. They both supports fast charging, wireless charging, fast wireless charging. They both have a headphone jack. S8 has a bixby button which thankfully S7 Edge doesn't have. S8 is capable of Samsung Dex where you can turn your phone into a computer (Sort of) it is also not there for the S7.
Price:
Where I live the S7 edge costs around 480$ for new and around 350$ for a used one. And for the S8 its costs around 580$ for new and 480$ for a used phone.
I like how your content keeps improving. Keep it up!
thanks
Interesting comparison. I think there are some better phones at this pricerange though. Samsung needs to be kept in check before they become the next Apple.
