I could be tempted by this little marvel that has already exceeded their target funding by almost x4. There are a load of them available at $399 with the option of Windows or Linux. I'd go for the latter as you might guess. I'm just not sure I have a real need for a new laptop. I have an old one that just needs a new battery. When I'm out and about I don't need a super machine. Just need something that can do web etc.
Is there a market for something bigger than a large smartphone and smaller than the usual slim laptops? There used to be things like the Psion organisers. HP and others had some too, but that was before smartphones. I had a few PDA devices (Psion 3a, Palm IIIx, Palm Zire 71, Acer n35. None had internet, but they had uses.
I was just reading a piece by Terry Pratchett about the Olivetti Quaderno he carried around and wrote books on. The best device is the one you have with you when you need it.

I have a new laptop, but there was a time that this would have tempted me. On the other hand, for practical work, I think this might be just a bit too small. I have very small hands, but i had trouble with the keyboards on 10" laptops.
On the other hand, if I hadn't just bought a new laptop, I might be tempted anyway because I have to carry a laptop for work and I'm not getting to use mine because carrying two of them is too much. Something this small would clearly be small enough to carry along with the work laptop.
Clearly I'm conflicted.
I would actually not be too tempted, the keyboard being challenging for my big fingers.
Given that I've used much smaller keyboard on other devices I think I'd cope. It depends on how much typing you need to do
In my case, one can count on heavy programming plus writing about a hundred of emails a day ;) I definitely need a bigger keyboard.
Can always get one to plug in :) Could even be a folding one. It's good to have the option, but it won't suit everyone
Yep, when subjectiveness enters, everyone needs to finds his or her way :)
