Nightly Firefox Feels So Fast

A couple days ago I saw a Hacker News article about some of the changes coming to Firefox. Commenters were raving about how amazingly fast the nightly version of Firefox is. I thought I'd give it a shot.

Review

I'm running. 58.0a1 (2017-10-07) (64-bit) on Linux.

Over all I'd say it feels very snappy. On the octane 2 javascript benchmark it comes in at 27091. Chrome on the same machine registers 28247. Which is about 4% slower than chrome. On my machine despite having a lower raw performance score I'd say the Firefox Nightly feels faster than chrome. Pages load faster. Scrolling is more smooth. Mozilla has also done a great job cleaning up the UI. It feels very compact and fresh.

If you are willing to run alpha software I'd say give it a try! Either way Mozilla's future is very bright and I can't wait for this version to become stable.
