Samsung phones have been at the forefront of phone tech for a very long time, they even supply the screens for the new Crapple 8 and X. Since 2011, they have been steadily working away on flexible screens that will not leave a crease after it has been bent. And they have finally cracked it.
The CEO of Samsung, PR and media teams have announced that in mid to late 2018 they will launch the Samsung Galaxy X after good results from the Korean Market after fully certifying the phone. This basically means that Samsung now have a finalized model and after some more tweeks and software development, they can start mass production for a world wide launch.
The CEO also implied that when the Galaxy X (which is just a code name at present) is launched, it will come under the 'Note' brand.
So lets look at the device itself. Unlike the displays Samsung have shown off in the past with a fully flexible display, instead the Galaxy X will be a phone with double sided display that will open up to double the size, meaning that the only part of the display that bends will be in the middle.
To get around the problem of keeping all the hardware connected inside the phone, they have created a Flex tile mesh, so every time the display is opened or closed, the tile mesh slide along each other and keep everything connected.
Rumours are that it will be available as a 5” display, but that would make no sense if its sold under the Note brand. So it is possible that it would fold out to be a 7” display.
The benefit is, if you want just a phone for quick use, you can, and if you wanted to spend more time on it. You can fold out the display and go to town on angry birds or watch some busty mud wrestling women.
Specs are just rumour at present, but taking the history of Samsung phones into account we can make some good assumptions of what we might get.
4K display, but may settle for 2k as we don't know what the flex display is capable of … yet. We will see new 7nm, 16 core processors. Which are currently being developed and produced for the next gen phones. (some already have them, possibly up to 16 gig of RAM. 512-1tb of internal storage with the usual SD card expansion slot..4k video recording at 60fps. USB-C 3.2 conection for charging, data transfer and to connect to a display port, and then your usual bells and whistles you would expect from Samsung, including a HEADPHONE JACK. Take the hint apple.
I will post more details as they come available. But its good to know, it is happening. I havnt used my phone for 3 years. If I get a galaxy x I may actually use it.
Thanks for reading.

Samsung have been generally very good, they deserve their position in the market. The flagship S6 and S7 have been fantastic. I am not certain about a foldable screen however. To me that seems very very likely to be broken, which will disable your phone to all intents and purposes.
