yet, I have a few comments.
I doubt we will see genetic engeneering and quantum computing within the next decade but they will come.
As for your topic about AI I hope that we will never see an AI that could do scientific research because this would implies that it tries to improve itself in a general way and that will make humanity obsolete.

Actually CRISPR led genetic engineering is already here and is advancing very rapidly. In this particular field the bottleneck will be the ethics of the technology rather than the technology itself.
About, quantum computing, they are having major breakthroughs every now and then and in fact there is already a quantum computer in use. It's called the D-Wave. As for its mainstream adoption, yes, that might take well over 10 years.
About AI doing research on its own, I agree to a certain aspect because then what will we do, right? But I am afraid, it is already happening and will only escalate from here on.
