This is exciting and frustrating. Here in Grand Junction, it has been a 'test' study on how the EHR system would work. I have to say it is amazing. Doctors at a click and pull up x-rays and view them with you. You medical records from any facility in town are there so they can review. It no longer takes days to request records.
One of the biggest benefits (well I see as a benefit) the local hospitals can pull up to see the last time a patient was seen and what for to ensure proper treatment and/or drug seeking. When you sign the paperwork to agree to treatment, you are also giving permission to have all your records accessed.
