As far as we know almost every galaxy was formed by hundrets or thousands of collissions. And in some billion years Andromeda will collide with our own galaxy.

And as far as I know, universe is created as a result of big-bang according to which every galaxy is expanding/moving away in the space which makes collision of galaxies so rare. Imagine everyone is moving radially away from a point in plane and expecting to meet again. I guess it's impossible
