We have already seen how some advances in digital technology have revolutionized the way we live and work. Smartphones, cloud services (such as Dropbox iCloud, Google Drive or SkyDrive), or tactile tablets are some of the new tools that, although a few years ago seemed like science fiction, we handle normally on a day-to-day basis. However, this has only just begun. Not very much what we now believe we can only see in the movies will come to our homes.
1. The Google glasses. With these augmented reality glasses you will be able to consult your social networks, view text, Google maps, navigate with GPS or take a photo. You can also receive service updates to which you have subscribed. All this while walking down the street, with a simple glance. This novelty is already available but, for the moment, only for some promoters, for 1133 euros (1500 dollars). But other technology companies are expected to create a more affordable version for consumption.
2. 3D printers. Three-dimensional printing can transform your design on the computer screen into a physical piece. This is no longer new to the advanced mechanical industry, but it will undoubtedly be revolutionary when the use of these printers in homes is normalized. Everyone will be able to create their own products and the era will come where productivity and personal creativity will be maximized. Form 1 is about a personal printer model in three dimensions that can be purchased for 2114 euros ($ 2799).
3. Virtual reality games. Also the industry of the videojuegos continues advancing and already a helmet that allows the vision in three dimensions of high definition and of 110 degrees for video game. This makes the player feel mentally within the created virtual world. The first to arrive are the Oculus Rift, which can be purchased for 226 euros ($ 300).
4. Leap Motion. Touch screens on desktop computers have not been very successful given the feeling of fatigue that may cause prolonged use. However, Leap Motion comes with a more advanced idea, which consists of controlling the desktop with your fingers but without touching the screen. This system allows you to scroll through a web page, zoom in on a map, photos or form documents, among many other possibilities.
5. Eye tracking or eye tracking. You can control your tablet completely just with the movement of your eyes. This technology combines eye tracking with a front camera and a complex screen viewing algorithm.
6. SmartThings. This product brings the features of a smart home closer to anyone who owns a smartphone. With SmartThings you can know what the conditions of your home are, who is inside, lower the blinds, put the fire alarm or turn on the living room light through your smart device.
7. Firefox OS. The operating systems iOS (Apple) and Android (Google) are fine, but each of them has its own rules that sometimes suppose a barrier to the creative efforts of the developers. Mozilla has decided to create its own mobile operating system, whose philosophy will be open source, freedom and user choice. Being an open operating system, users can modify Firefox OS according to their needs.
8. Fiona Project. It is a tablet designed to play that will be released in 2013. With an Intel Core i7 processor you can host your favorite PC games and all in the palm of your hand.
9. Parallella. It is a "super computer" project that has been financed by a crowfunding campaign (direct, voluntary and personal contributions from people interested in the project). With Parallella, the processing of the software will be faster and more efficient and will also improve the voice recognition and intelligence of the devices. It is not recommended at the moment for those who are not users of the Linux operating system, but the great advantage is that it is loaded with development software to create their personal projects.
10. The car without driver. Google, the great search engine, has made it possible. An artificial intelligence, cameras inside the car and different sensors and radars make it possible for Google's car to have traveled more than 1500 kilometers without receiving human orders. According to the co-founder of Google, Sergey Bin, "you can count on the fingers of one hand the remaining years for the car to reach the public". The innovation is already created, but that the invention is affordable for consumers will be the new headache of Google.
I look forwars to google glasses or just smart glasses in generel :D
