This May 29th we are going to watch the popular actor Steve Carrel in a new adventure in a TV show, in this occasion in the gender which make him so popular, the comedy. Since the end of his famous show “The office” which make him win mostly of his popularity as a comedy actor, Steve has been far away the TV shows, mostly of his appearances as principal actor has been on movies usually as a comedy man, until we could see him back again at the small screen in “The morning show” next to Jennifer Aniston in a role more dramatic than the ones we are used to wait from Steve, but this year his ready to come back to the small screen in his funniest version with “Space Force” a new comedy show in this occasion on Netflix.

Co-created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell, produced by Daniels, Carell and Howard Klein, generates a great spectating because is basically the same team who bring us “The office” some years ago reaching a great popularity. In this occasion we are not going to watch Steve as the boss of an office as he did it to many years in the skin of Michael Scott, he is going to be again in a main role as the general Mark Naird who has to command the mission of the recently founded space force which has the mission to consolidate this new arm of the US army and put again a man at the moon faster than the rival forces from China and Russia all this with the help of the scientist Dr. Adrian Mallory interpreted by other old acquaintance, John Malkovich.
Following the line of “The office” it looks that we are not going to receive a classic “sitcom” with pre-defined sets and background laughs, we are going to have open spaces and a more serious story decorated with funny situations. We are going to see a family man working with a totally new project a new team that are going to make us feel the sensation and pressure of working in a millionaire project while has to support his daughter who is totally denied to change her lifestyle for her dad’s work.
Carrel and Malkovich are not going to be alone in this mission they are going to be with a particularly cast where we can find some recognized actors and actresses like Diana Silvers, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, Tawny Newsome, Don Lake and as in “The morning show” this time with another star from the famous sitcom “Friends” been Lisa Kudrow in this occasion. For the first season we are going to have ten episodes where these stars will have to make us get in love with the story and each character to make us want to follow the show.

Of course with a topic of this class where the US government is clearly related the political satire is not going to be absent, the president of the United States is going to appear at the show, but we are not going to be able to see his face, but the show is not going to do too much effort to avoid the similarity with Donald Trump, we can wait for a lot of hilarious moments with this topic.
Space force looks like a risky bet with a main idea which could suffer the temptation of forget the comedy as principal target and get in an attempt of humoristic drama or in other way try to force funny moments where there is not possible comedy resulting in a total disaster also it could became a slow and boring story which could get stack in a not defined way where we are going to have as a result the lost of audience who is used to watch more classics sitcoms. Carrel and Daniels were able to reach a great level with “The office” having many elements far away the classics, now the question is if more than a decade latter they are going to do it again and bring us a remarkable comedy to spend some hours in front of the TV. If you ask me, with the precedent of “The office” and original and unexpected main topic, Steve Carrel accompanied by great names in the cast, this show has a lot in favor to reach a high level a have many audience. This May 29th, we are going to discover if this became a reality.
