A Festivus for the rest of us
Today is December 23rd, which means it's time to celebrate Festivus. For those not familiar with the greatest holiday of the season, Festivus has it's origins in the TV show Seinfeld. Festivus has three main parts:
Festivus Pole
Instead of a Christmas tree or menorah, the centerpiece for this holiday is the Festivus pole. Frank Costanza, a character on the show, picked the pole for its simplicity and "high strength-to-weight ratio".
Airing of Grievances
After the Festivus dinner, each person takes turns describing how everyone has dissapointed them over the last year.
Feats of Strength
Upon the conclusion of dinner, the head of the household must be pinned in a wrestling match to signal the end of the holiday.

Now obviously this is a silly holiday, but I think it does have some merit. A lot of times the true meaning of the holiday season can get lost in the stress and consumerism. I hope every has a good holiday this year (and I don't recommend airing any grievances at Christmas dinner).
