In life, wherever we find ourselves, there are always people we tend to draw inspiration from. People that have gone ahead of us and done amazing things. We either try to be them or beat them. This is usually the first step, and unlike other first steps, this is usually the easiest step we'll take on our journey to being or beating those people.
It's easy to read a story, watch a documentary and get inspired. The adrenaline starts pumping out into every corner of our bodies, the excitement grows beyond anything we've ever experienced and in that moment, we feel we can take on the world.
We see stories of these people doing great and we want to be them but what we don't see is the road that brought them to where they currently are.
This explains why we get frustrated and disappointed when we try out what we see these people do but we don't get anywhere close to the results we see these people get.
The conclusion is that they must be geniuses!
Why Are They Geniuses And I'm Not?
People aren't born geniuses, they get there through effort. - Malcolm Gladwell
That right there is great news! People aren't born geniuses after all! You should know that already, yeah? Nothing i'm going to be saying is new but you're still allowed to heave a sigh of relief. Yeah go on, do your happy dance. Nobody is born a genius.
but what about those kids that solve crazy maths problems or remember events from way back before they were even born? Err... moving on!
According to Malcolm Gladwell, it's the effort that brings out the genius in you. So there's a genius in you! Isn't that cool?
How Do You Bring Out The Genius In You?
The greats weren't great because at birth they could paint. The greats were great cause they paint a lot. - Macklemore
"...they paint a lot." Continuous effort! The greats you know of didn't become great by giving up at first sight of an obstacle. They didn't give up after 10 years of not breaking through. They didn't give up until they made it!
Constant practice and continuous effort were (are) the keys to unlocking the genius in them (you).
This is why Malcolm Gladwell postulated that you need 10,000 hours of constant practice to attain that genius level.
Many people might disagree with the statement or the exactness of the 10,000 figure but his quote below is the one thing I'd rather hold on to.
The point is simply that natural ability requires a huge investment of time in order to be made manifest. - Malcolm Gladwell
How Does This Apply To Steemit?
Do you know that when you start to ask this question of everything that comes your way, you just might already be a Steem addict?
Well, the answer is simple! 10,000 hours translate to 416.666 24-hour days! That's how long you've got till you become a Steemit genius.
This means you commit to Steemit for the entire 24 hours in a day and you'd still need approximately 417 days to attain that genius status!
That's some incredible s#!t!
In my very early days on Steemit, I was on here about 16 hours every day. I'd read up on all I can find, interact with people and just keep pushing. I'd write every day and try out new things. Enter for various competitions, start up something to bring people together... I was everywhere. It was my best period on Steemit.
I soon ran out of steam tho because, truth be told, it isn't an easy task at all. But while I was at it, I got the rewards. This is why I intend to pick up from where I left off and go all in once again.
Seeing how much time I have to put in gives me a sort of calm. It's a marathon/journey. As long as I keep going, I'll get there. I'm therefore taking on the #one000hours challenge.
Reasons Why I'm Taking The #one000hours Challenge
To remind myself that those getting high rewards for their posts were here before me and have put in the work.
To help me stay focused and give me a sense of direction concerning my activities on Steemit.
To help me stay consistent in my posting and interaction.
To give me a reason to be on Steemit daily.
Moral Of The Story?
This race is not a sprint but a marathon. In fact, it's more of a journey than a race.
If you want better results from your blog, you need to put in the work. No shortcuts!
There's only how far luck can take you, that's why they say "...run out of luck". You still need to put in work.
Will you be taking on this challenge too?
BONUS: guess correctly why I settled for #ten000hours to represent "10000 Hours" and win a surprise gift!
If you, by any means, enjoyed this amateur attempt at sounding smart, consider upvoting and resteeming. You can also follow me for more.

Thank you 😊
I love the enthusiasm, my friend. You continue to inspire me with all the hard work you put into Steemit.
Oh wow! Thanks a lot for the kind words. I'm happy i'm able to inspire you 😊
You're welcome! It is just as you wrote in this article - your continued effort and perseverance say to me, press on.
Nice post, Keep up the challenge, we all behind you. We will learn and pick from your steps
You're welcome to take on the challenge too. It sure would be beneficial. What do you say?
ten000hours!!! that would be one hell of an addiction. Can't Promise as i am 6-7hrs per day steemit (Averagely) nowadays. It safe to say I've forgot about other Social Network
Haha! 6 hours is a nice start 😂
forgetting about other social networks is also normal lol. I barely use anything that won't reward me in a meaningful way!
It seems a fairly successful approach and I fully support it, I think it's true, the talent is born but the skills require hours of practice.
And so, I think you chose @ ten000hours for 3 reasons:
Ten000 = 10,000 obviously haha
By Malcolm Gladwell in stating that it was necessary to be truly good at some task
Because you plan to dedicate 10 hours a day or a week to some specific task
😃
Your first reason is pretty close! Why didn't I just use 10000 for the tag? Think about it!
Because... Macklemore made it after 10 years? haha
Or maybe because 2+0+1+7= 10 and... 2017-000-hours is ten000hours?
My head is spinning around about it!
😂 oh my! You're going too far away lol.
Let's see if anyone else gets closer.
Without much going to extremes I must say that I think those 10 represent a merely representative number. That we must adapt according to our time and agenda. If we can contribute 4 or 2 hours to Steemit, perfect! If we can invest it even more, the better! It's all about doing it with heart, with faith and a lot of good vibes
it's inspiring, thanks for sharing
Great point that anything in life takes time and dedication. I also watched a TED talk on this same subject and it really helps you realize how putting in the hours can pay off for any endeavor.
True! It's applicable in every area of life.
