in #tennis7 years ago

Madrid - Former French Open champion Garbine Muguruza is working hard in his first game. Against Donna Vekic, Muguruza worked hard to win in a three-set duel.

In the match at Caja Magica completed on Wednesday (9/5/2018) pm dawn, this third-seeded Spaniard had left behind one set before crushing Vekic 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Muguruza will meet 14th seed Daria Kasatkina to fight for a place in the quarterfinals. Currently Muguruza leads 2-1, where the defeat came at the last meeting of the two players in the semi-finals of the Dubai Open this year.

In the other party, the number one and defending champion two Simona Halep appear dominant when defeating Elise Mertens. Halep only lost three games to win 6-0, 6-3.

Halep will face Krystina Pliskova, twin sister Karolina Pliskova, in the last 16. The Romanian was 2-0 up against Pliskova without losing the set. Halep also beat Pliskova at the Madrid Open last year.

Another seeded qualifier is Petra Kvitova. The 10th seed from the Czech Republic made it through a challenging game against wild card Monica Puig.

Despite winning the first set with relative ease, Kvitova worked hard in the second set before winning 6-4, 7-6 (8). The winner of the two Wimbledon titles will next play Anna Kontaveit, who in his first game successfully threw Venus Williams.
