A couple of weeks ago, I have been nominated by @see-it-feel-it to join a challenge created by @twodorks. I haven't shared any personal posts on Steemit yet, so it took me some time to start writing as I must admit that I'm not very good at talking about myself.
Why did I accept the challenge? I've been on Steemit for more than 5 months and I think that now it's the right time to show you who is behind this account.
It's been very difficult to prepare 5 random things about me, so please forgive me for not sharing 10 of them.
I love nature
If you follow my posts, you might know this already 😊 I feel connected with nature and this is my ‘safe’ place. It doesn’t matter how many problems I have to resolve but as soon as I’m in the mountains I forget them all. I can just sit on a meadow for hours and enjoy the serenity of mountains. This is where I recharge my batteries and where I feel content. My happy place…
I was born left-handed
During my childhood I was forced to use my right hand. I still remember how unnatural it was to me, but I had to obey. I didn’t understand what was wrong with doing things with my left hand and no one seemed that interested in explaining that to me. Right hand was the one to use. Period.
When I was older, lefties started to be more accepted in the society, but it was too late for me to switch to my left hand completely. Now I do some things with my right and other things with my left hand. I write with my right hand but play various sports (basketball, volleyball, tennis) with my left hand. I chop the onion with my right hand, but hold a spoon with my left hand 😊 And I could go on and on...
I love baking but I don’t like sweets
I would bake every day if I could. I have always enjoyed baking and learned how to bake from my mom. Neither myself nor my husband enjoy sweet treats and as we don’t have many friends here I can’t bake as much as I would like to.
I have recently agreed with the owner of the vegan shop here in town to bake a ‘charity’ cake each Saturday. All money from the sale is donated to a different good cause each month. I can now enjoy baking and contribute to the community at the same time. Win win!
I dislike shopping
When I was younger I loved to go shopping. I guess all girls do. Nowadays, it’s a torture for me to go to a shop and try all those clothes and shoes on. I must confess that I haven’t bought any piece of clothing this year yet. First of all I rather spend my time in the mountains and second of all I have realized that I have enough clothes and shoes for a long time. I have even donated a few pieces to the poor earlier this year and I still have more than enough.
I started to drive a car 12 years after I got my driver’s license
This is an embarrassing story...
I took a couple of driving lessons and decided to buy a car once I started to feel ashamed for asking my husband to drive me here and there all the time. He was driving with me for the first couple of weeks. One day, I had an appointment with the car dealer and my husband was too busy, so I thought I would go alone for the first time. The car was parked in the underground garage that was clearly built for smaller cars. When I was driving out of the garage, I was trying to be very careful, but one car was parked in a way that I had to drive around it. No, I didn’t hit that car..
I hit the pillar on the other side with the back of my car. When I heard that scratching sound, there was no escape anymore.. I was surprised with my reaction as I thought: Well, I’m on my way to the service anyway 😊 When I finally got there, they offered me a glass of water to calm me down and asked me to go home and pay the insurance invoice first 😊 They congratulated me and told me that from now on I won’t have any accidents and they were right. I was lucky that it was covered by the insurance as they had to change the back door. I had the car for 2 weeks at that time.
You can imagine how scared I was to drive the car after that. But eventually I started to understand how it works and now I’m fascinated with cars in general. I love driving and use the car every day now. And yes, I am a good driver 😊
To take part in the challenge I nominate: @mattifer, @sallybeth23, @puravidaville and @matkodurko.
I'm looking forward to learning more about you!
Cheers,
Martina

Now I see you Martina! Your contribution is highly appreciated, your posts are all top notch and an inspiration for me :) I like Steemit more because of people like you.
Oh Dan! That is so nice to hear from you :) You know that I love your posts and I still wait for more :) I'm glad that you like Steemit more as it would be sad to see you leaving the platform :)
Just started Martina and now adjusting my schedule to fit this new writing activity which requires some time management tuning and new routine. Also had to clean some mess in my phone photos. I still think here is the best place to improve my writing skills, considering the interaction and feedback from the community. Thank you for the motivation boost :) I've recently started working on my next post.
Oh yes, I can imagine that it takes time to build your new routine around platform. I think everyone goes through the same issues. I hope you'll manage to arrange things in the way that we will be able to see you here more often 😉
My pleasure. I can give you another one anytime you need! 😎
Te deseo Éxito, Saludos de parte de @ydavgonzalez.
very nice to hear a personal story about you... that's funny about the car :P ... and what a beautiful place you can go "relax"... that is heaven on earth!
It was not that funny at that time, I must say :D It feels different now but I was worried that insurance wouldn't pay for it. The bill was 10k at the end and I couldn't be happier when they covered it :)
Thank you for stopping by, Dave! :)
Ohhhhh, that scraping sound of metal against metal, or metal against pillar... the worst sound, after the crunching of glass!! It's even worse than shopping - the torture to go to a shop and try all those clothes and shoes on - I hate shopping. I have come to hate cooking, because of so many food allergies, and I only wish I shared your non-love of sweets! My life (every milestone, every holiday, and numerous other occasions) was defined by food - if nothing else, the one thing I could always say of my childhood is "The food was good."
Thanks for sharing this. :)
Thank you for stopping by and taking time to write such a nice comment. Oh, having food allergies is a torture especially while eating out! Hahaha, I know it's unusual as many people like sweets but I enjoy savory snacks more 😉
This was an interesting read Martina - shall I accept your challenge? I will have a think about it for sure...... thanks for thinking of me, you are such a sweetheart. I have a bunch of connections with left handers so smiled when I read that and I agree on shopping and sweet things😉❤️🦋🌴🌈💛🍀
Of course!! Please do so! I would love to read more about you!
It looks like lefties are very popular on Steemit :) A few people told me that they know many :)
Thank you for stopping by and your nice comment :)
ohh snap!! @macchiata I totally forgot u nominated me for this! Now i got reminded haha :D
Haha I've read just 4 posts of yours and all were about nature :D so yeah, we know that :D and my father shares the story with u about the left-handedness as well. Stay tuned for my story about this hahah :D Oh and soo cool that u gave out some unneeded clothes!! I havent bought anything new since last summer (except for jiu jitsu stuff which was needed), but dont have sooo many so I can donate :D not sure if it's good or bad :D
Now you have to participate :) No choice, Martin :)
Yeah, that's true, but soon there will be more vegan recipes :) looking forward to reading the story about your father! It's nice to know there are more people who faced the same..
Hahaha, it's good, I think. You don't need to donate.. the important thing is that you don't buy more than you need :)
Thank you for stopping by!
Yepp yepp my father is the same case like u....and the story will be about me as I also have weird issues with this and believe, it got "transferred" on me from him.
Now I can't wait to read about those things! :) Sound like a 'phantom limb pain'. You don't have the limb but you feel the pain. So you're not a lefty but you feel like one :D
Hah kinda similar :D u'll see...never heard of 'phantom limb pain' but that it sounds like something you don't really want to suffer from :D freaking non-existent pain out of blue :D
Ho @delishtreats "the queen" ...nice to meet you 👌 but certain things quite surprised me....
your love for nature. Ojhh pretty surprising...i thought you only love castle or castle love you more ?? It keep you calling....
your left hand ... Whatever you do is alwsys right. So it matters....left or right..you alwsys make intelligent move.
You dont like sweetz....queen are pretty health concious. But you alwsys too sweet with your comments. So nice of you.
No sgopping....why queen need to shop. She must have loads of gifts ..so who worry for shoping.
Queen do not need to drive. she already have chaufer to carry her.
[email protected] to know you.... All these above points are for fun purpose...so keep chill....

Hahaha, nice to meet you too!
Your comments rock and you always give me a good laugh!
You see? I should have included that one too! I do love castles!
Hahaha, this is what I'll share with my husband as he clearly has a different opinion about me doing right or wrong :D
That is true! We only eat spinach and carrots! I prefer sweet words :D
I have people doing shopping for me :D
Hmmm.. that is a good point! I have a butler, a cleaning lady, a dressing lady, a lady to read for me before going to bed, a cook and a guy doing dishes.. but I do not have a chauffeur yet!
Thank you for your nice comment!
Chaufer...who use to drove you before you learn driving ??? Your husband ??? ...so you have a personal one😉
So my guess about your shopping behaviour to your eating habbits is pretty corrrect.....great to know the curie castle comment queen.....steem on

Cool facts :) In the first one about nature, every single word you wrote there goes for me too :) And the lanscape is absolutely stunning! I love places like this. I think I will be a regular visitor to your blog :)
Very nice to learn a little more about you. :) My sister is very similar in that she will bake up a storm to bring to other people, but she is not a sweets person herself. I think I'm more of the opposite, haha. Some of my favorite people are left-handers, so nice to know I have one more to add to the list!
Then I think you have more than enough sweets from her :) Baking is so relaxing.. and that smell of freshly baked cake :) Can't resist!
Yay! Happy to be on that list now! :)
Thank you for stopping by Katie. I hope you're doing well!
Ha! I see that I have been nominated. I guess I'm going to have to find out where to look to see if people have tagged me in something. :-)
Anyway, I really enjoyed this post. You and I have much in common it seems. I'll take you up on your challenge, although it may take me a few days to get to it.
In other news, if you are ever in the States you simply must come visit me. I'm in Ohio, but I travel a lot (as you know) so who knows where I might be if you make it here.
Do you use steemworld.org? You can see it there under 'mentions'. I have also missed so many things before I started to use it. But I think that Gina should give you a notification too. I'm not sure as I don't use Gina myself.
It doesn't matter how long it will take you :) But it will be nice to read a little more about you :)
If I would ever come to the States, I would let you know months in advance, so I'm sure that we would manage to meet up :)
Thank you for your nice comment, Jen!
I do use steemworld sometimes. Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. I thought about using Gina, but I have never gotten around to setting that up. I really don't want one more thing that I need to check regularly and/or that gives me notifications about stuff. Between my 5 different email accounts and 4 different facebook accounts and 3 blogging accounts I have enough to keep up with. I'm starting to slack on all the things, so I really need to consolidate at this point.
Oh girl, why do you have so many accounts? :D I would get crazy! I have one IG account that I stopped using and one FB account that I don't use for ages :D
Well, I have email addresses for personal as well as the 3 businesses I'm involved in plus a 'support' email address for one of them. I manage facebook accounts for 3 businesses as well as my personal one, and then I have my blog on steemit and WEKU as well as a blog for the non-profit I'm involved with on WEKU. See why I hesitate to add anything else into the mix? I stay busy. :-)
Fantastic to get to know you! The cake does look VERY good! I know a few people who had nasty accidents just after passing their tests and then spent years not driving. Glad you love it now! I am with you on the shopping: can't bear it... :) Have a lovely day!

Thank you for stopping by!
I've heard that my cakes are delicious 😉 I like one piece here and there too..
You are right. And it's a pity as driving really can be vety pleasant. And as long as you focus, all will be good. The only problem is that we don't have any impact on actions of other people on the road..
Have a lovely day too! 😉
Interesting to learn how long it took you to drive, I learned on a manual and every car I owned was automatic, now I refuse to drive a manual car and have to rely on husband or sons which I detest, but life goes on!
Mountains and outdoors are the only place to be to find peace with oneself, fully agree with you on that.
Buying clothing I have never enjoyed, fitting on in stores is a chore, of late I don't enjoy shopping for food once a week, do love cooking so am forced to do that.
I learned on a manual too and that was the problem. I was scared that the engine would die on each traffic light and didn't want to be in the way of other drivers :) Now I'm driving an automatic car and couldn't be happier :) As long as you have somebody to drive you around, it's good :)
Yes, these are the best places to be. It's getting rainy and cold over here so I'm afraid I won't be able to go outside too much, but I hope there will be a couple of more days this year that I'll still be able to enjoy outdoor.
There were time when I loved shopping, now I really avoid that. However I do enjoy shopping for food. I love cooking as well and I enjoy searching for ingredients.
Thank you for stopping by Joan :)
This is amazing! You’ve only been blogging for 5 months? That’s impressive. I, too, loathe shopping. Oddly enough I loved to go shopping when I was younger but I also liked fashion a lot back then. Now I’m much more a fan of comfort and practicality, but mostly comfort. Haha… whatever it is you wear to a beach is what I wear. It’s amazing the amount of time and energy one has when they stop focusing on fashion.
The volunteer cakey treats you’re making to raise money for donations is brilliant. I love that idea and can’t wait to see what you cook up. I wish my husband and I didn’t like sweets. I think once I got a hold of him he found his sweet tooth and now there’s no going back. :)
Don’t be embarrassed about side swiping that pillar either. I’d never admit it to my husband but I’ve done that once or twice in my day. You’re right, that screeching sound is just aweful.
Thank you for sharing yourself with us @delishtreats. It was nice to read :)
I opened the account in March but at that time I was still working up to 12 hours a day so didn't manage to start. My first post was on 15th of May :)
I also loved fashion back then. Now I'm more conscious about the environment, fast fashion and all other things around it, I don't want to participate in it anymore :) Plus I don't like crowded places and 'nice' sales ladies.
Hahaha, I actually always wished I had a sweet tooth, so that I enjoy what I bake :) I do eat sweets but only a few times in a year and especially during PMS :D
Well, I don't want to say anything.. but you know that your husband started to follow me and might read this comment? :D
And don't forget that I tagged you to share some facts about you :)
Thank you for visiting my dear!
Haha… it’s really okay if he sees it. He’ll just never let me live it down, but it works in my favor because I prefer he drive anyway. :)
I totally missed you calling me out. This is the 2nd post somebody has challenged me on today. I think I have a little homework to do @delishtreats.
P.s. my sweet tooth is definitely revved up around a particular time of the month too 🤦🏼♀️
Really? I hate driving my husband's car but I don't let him drive mine as I love it 🤣 He doesn't mind. He prefers to enjoy the surroundings..
I'm looking forward to you posts! ❤
Haha… that’s great! I am the one who really likes to gander out the window at everything. Particularly when we are driving in the city, there’s paint and excitement everywhere. I can’t stand to drive in the city.
I’ll get my challenge post up within a few days 😉 Thanks for the nomination.
well well well..look who we have here...an introverted baker/race car driver/world traveling Lefty! lol. Hey this is another remarkable post, I love the way you worked in another stunning photo..well a couple of them actually.
But such an interesting post. To be totally honest it may be a bit too heliocentric but otherwise it's almost perfect so well done!
Introverted? Who said that? 🤣 I should have tagged you to share the facts, you smarty pants!
lol! hey people have been tagging me for these kinds of things ever since I got on here and I just laugh them off so I'm glad you didn't. I thought you did a masterful job of coming up with personal things but not too personal.
Ok, not introverted like me but what....private?
I hope I didn't misuse the term heliocentric too bad, I never looked that up so I still have no idea what it is! Did it fit there? lol.
But you can choose some facts that are not that personal. This was my intention too :)
Private is the right word :) I don't consider myself introverted. I just like to protect my privacy :) There are top secret reasons for that :)
Hahaha, heliocentric means that the planets are turning around the sun. If I have such an importance as sun then you used this word very wisely :D
hello delishtreats! lol. so I DID use the heliocentric word correctly! lol.
you're like the sun in the travel niche of steemit.
Ok, no introvert. I sure am but that's a merciful thing for the world.
well, your post was brilliant. Especially how you had that kid pose as you!
Hahaha, there is nothing niche with travel on Steemit :D There are SO many travelers that the posts easily go unnoticed..
Yes, it is :D If I imagine that you're so sarcastic in the real life too then I do agree that it's a merciful thing for the world that you are an introvert :D
Hahahaha, do I have to grow grey hair for you to believe that it's me?! :D
I guess their are a ton of travel posts but none quite like yours.
well I'm actually alot more sarcastic in real life! lol.
Don't rush the grey hairs, they will come soon enough.
Interesting details. Definitely better in the mountains than shopping... unless you need to buy something to head to the mountains.
Proud member of #steemitbloggers
That is a good point Todd :) I should have mentioned it there :)
Thank you for stopping by!
Do you like baking bread, rolls, or other not-so-sweet things? I really enjoy the smell of freshly baked bread in the house, but I find that we never actually get around to eating it ourselves, so maybe you'd find the same issue.
I do but we don't eat that much bread, so end up with too many leftovers as well. We are just two of us and it's difficult to eat so much of anything that I bake :) I love the smell of freshly baked bread too. When I was working in the office it was much easier as I could share with my colleagues. I'm even thinking about baking for our neighbors now :D
Happy to read your special article i like the drive licence part LOL. You motivated me I'm a new driver and i hate it😊 and hope someday love driving as you. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day
I'm sure you will love it. When I drive, I clear my head. It's great when I have a difficult day :) Just please, don't stop driving. Try to drive as much as you can and the more you drive, the better you will feel behind the steering wheel :)
Thank you for stopping by :)
Nice to meet you. Looks like we have polar opposite experiences with driving. I took my license and drove for a few years without an accident. Then, in 3 years, I had two big crashes... and the last one, the car couldn't be fixed. Now I'm a bit scared to drive again. I've been walking and riding the Metro ever since.
Thank you! It was about the time :) I'm not that good with sharing personal stories and this took me a lot of time and effort to write..
I'm sorry to hear about your accident and I hope that you weren't injured. I'm lucky I haven't been in a real accident and I hope I'll never be.
In many cities it's better to use public transport as it's faster, but I live in a small town with not that many connections so that the car is much for flexible and faster..
No, I wasn't injured... but after two scares, I don't want to risk a third. I also live in a semi-rural area and it takes me 20 mins to get to the Metro Station. If anything, it serves as an excuse to make some exercise. ;-)
Exactly! It's great for people with office work :) I was also walking to the office instead of taking the train. It took me 30 minutes to walk and 3 minutes by train :D
30 minutes is still a bit far, to do everyday. Well done.
I am lucky enough to walk less than 10 minutes to reach my work place. Well, maybe it's not luck, I deliberately rent a place nearby to save on the commute, almost a decade ago. I am glad I did that! My quality of life improved a lot!
I didn't do it everyday. We worked together with my husband for the same company. He was usually working from home but when he went to the office, he would take me with him :) It's a nice walk during summer, but in the winter it's very cold. Rain is not very pleasant either..
I understand with the quality of life. I had a few colleague who were comuting 2 hours each way.. that is a lot of wasted time..
I understand. I also avoid getting out when it's rainy and cold. It's not a fun walk. At all.
2h a day = 44h a month = more than 500h a year just to commute. It's really a stupidity, as we only live once. You should present that math to them. :-P
It is great to get to know you better @delishtreats! :)
I love to be surrounded by nature as well. It's much better for me than the surroundings of large buildings, jammed streets accompanied by noise and pollution.
And I also hate shopping! :D
So before I started to travel I preferred to do it online. Trying on and squeezing through crowded shops is a horror for me.
And I love the idea of a 'charity' cake <3 What a great idea!
Thank you @see-it-feel-it! It was so difficult to write it but I was happy after I submitted it :)
I agree. I live in a small town surrounded by forest and I love it. I used to live in a big city and I didn't feel myself there.
Exactly. All those people around and annoying sales ladies who tell you that you look great even though you know you look like a sh1t in that dress :D
I was so excited when he agreed to sell my cakes and donate the money :)
Thank you for stopping by!
Oooh it must be kinda sucky being told to do what's not natural for you, being born as a left handed person, but at least you can do things deftly with both hands... so it's not that bad now =).
When you're a child, you just don't understand what is happening. Everyone is telling you to do something so unnatural to you..
Exactly! I had some inflammation in my right arm earlier this year and I learned to do everything with my left hand. I was even chopping an onion :D So yes, it was actually not that bad :)
Hi Martina, great to find out a bit more about you.
Sorry, I haven't been around much, being on the road means less time on Steemit.
Oh Pauline, no need to apologize. I've been also all over the places the last couple of days.
Where are you now?
I'm in Japan at the moment, been here for nearly 2 weeks and having a great time. Counting down (or trying not) to the last 5 days :-(
Wow! Lucky girl! Enjoy the last moments :)
Such a warm post!
Recently I've talked to my father. He remembered how he was forced to use his right hand too. I really don't understand the reason. Did they want everybody just to be the same?
Posted using Partiko Android
I can imagine this was the reason. At that time you were weird when you were different and I can imagine they were thinking that it is the best for the children to do the same as otherwise they would be face issues at a later stage? Sounds crazy but I think that people were just following the 'rules' at that time.. Is you dad using his left hand now?
Thank you for stopping by!
Switzerland is such a beautiful place... It's unreal! Been once and could return at any moment with such joy! Great blog, it was so fun to read! And if you don't have anywhere to distribute your baking, feel free to send some to me anytime, haha 🖤
I'm so lucky to be able to live in Switzerland (I'm not Swiss). I've been living here for around 8 years now.
Hahaha, all of the sudden there are many people who would like me to send them some cakes :D
Thank you for stopping by!
How could you! I mean that literally, how is it possible to not like sweet things?
Hahaha, I like chips instead :D

You are lovely, great smile, and wow, left handed, very interesting. Yummy food here. Here is an upvote.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm more of a mix as I use both my hands almost equally :)
Thanks for sharing @delishtreats Great story about the charity cakes :) Good for you.
Thank you Steve! I was so happy when he agreed to it :)

So fun to learn more about you Martina. It is nice to learn about the people behind the posts so thanks for sharing.
Thank you Sara. I didn't want to do it at the beginning but then I decided that it's nice to know about other people, so why wouldn't I share something about me? You should maybe consider writing something about you too :)
It will be fun. I will plan on it in a post coming up soon. Thanks for the idea and encouragement.
Martina. Here is my 10 Random things about me post. https://steempeak.com/photography/@sjarvie5/10-random-things-about-me-asian-edition
@delishtreats that was fun! Thank you. Nice to be met.
Write something together with your lovely wife too :) Will be nice to get to know you guys better too :)
This is the beauty of life. All of our paths are unique and they're fast. Years come and go but we still last.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this poetic addition ;)
It was nice getting to know you a little better, Martina! The last bit made me laugh (but in sympathy, as I’m still not driving – 20 years after getting my license!)
I also wouldn't start if I didn't have to. Everyone around me was driving a car and I was feeling useless for not being able to. But if you live in a city with good public transport connections then you're fine. Here it's difficult. We only have buses and trains and I don't like buses that much, so this was another factor that motivated me to start :)
I would love to get to know you a little more too, Oleg! So you might consider writing those facts about you? :)
Thank you for visiting!
Nice to get to know you a little better. I agree with you, it is hard to write about ourselves. I find it very difficult. I love your photography BTW. 😊
Thank you for your kind words :) I struggled a lot with this post but now I think it was a good decision :)
Maybe you should write some things about you too? :)

@delishtreats Hi fives, I'm born lefthanded too!! But I was too stubborn and didn't yield to my mother applying pressure on me to use my right hand :P
Hahaha
Hahaha, I couldn't do it. There was pressure from all sides and it was easier just to survive that time and change whatever I wanted as soon as they didn't have impact on me anymore :D
Love this post!, Great to get to know you :) I too love to bake...although I rarely eat the sweets, surprisingly enough. My husband loves them as do my kids! As for the story about driving, I had the same type of early driving experience, it is amazing the way it can make you nervous to drive again. I can just feel how you felt with the dented door, yuck! Love your post, I'll be following you now!
Thank you for your nice words :)
There is something magical about baking.. I love the process, adding different ingredients and flavors and I also love the smell of freshly baked cake.. but eating? Not that tempting.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience and I hope that you enjoy driving now :)
Yay! I do follow you back now :)
I cant think of anything worse than shopping ! Although online shopping has made that easier. Nice to meet you here on steem a little!
I even hate online shopping :D You receive it at home, then you try it on and you realize it doesn't fit.. Oh no! That as bad as 'real' shopping :D
Thank you for stopping by!
Yes very true. For things like Camera gear it is better. Clothes and footwear it is terrible.
I've recently discovered the nature is also my happy place haha. And I find I'm the opposite with shopping, I actually like shopping more than I did when I was younger, hahaha. And omg the car story! I actually just got my license a year ago, at the age of 24...lol so I relate on the car/driving jitters! I also got in an accident a week after buying my first car! (all covered by insurance luckily!) but yeah, I also enjoy driving now haha. Thanks for sharing!
