London Terror attacks and the Holy Month of Death

in #terrorism8 years ago (edited)

Since Ramadan began on May 26, 2017, the call to jihad has been heard and responded to across the globe. The Daily Caller reports that in just 8 days, the death toll in the Muslim world stands at 149 souls. Three bombings across Iraq and Afghanistan caused the catastrophic body counts, but deaths in the Western world have begun to stack up as well.

The suicide bombing in Manchester, at a concert for pop star Ariana Grande, took place prior to the start of the holy month, on May 22. 22 individuals died tragically at the Manchester Arena, and strangely the suicide bomber was 22 year old Salman Abedi. 59 further concert goers sustained varying levels of injury and another Manchester man was arrested in connection with the attack.

In the Philippines, the Duerte regime has been fighting off an invasion of ISIS aligned paramilitary operators. The Jihadists have taken a significant foothold, kidnapping a Catholic Priest and 200 parishioners, having taken over the city of Marawi, forcing tens of thousand of residents to flee in fear for their lives. In Manila, a gunman stormed a casino and entered into a firefight with casino employees and patrons, killing nearly 40 people.

Tragically, just last night a coordinated attack took place in the city of London, with 7 killed and 48 injured in a combination of violent acts. Armed men drove a van across the London Bridge, into the path of pedestrians, leaving a further 21 victims still in critical condition. Reports state that the men exited the vehicle and used hunting knives to stab victims and slash their throats, while screaming, "This is for Allah!" Reports of 3-5 men being involved were made in the initial confusion of the attack, with three suspects "neutralised" by Police on the scene.

Isis has claimed responsibility for all attacks.

I am deeply saddened by these events. I feel as though the Governments of this world are powerless to attacks of this nature.
