Elon Musk, a man of culture. Netizens of the world have long since known that Elon has embraced the world of memes. I mean, he hosted an episode of PewDiePie’s meme review a while back. Personally, I like Elon’s style and general personality when it comes to presenting his business ideas. It meshes well with current generations and adds a little flare to an otherwise possibly mundane subject. If you follow Elon Musk on twitter (you really should), his latest prophecy has unveiled that the new Model S would receive a permanent price slash. And that it certainly did, the Model S is appropriately price $69,420. I am sure that will become a meme in itself in the months to come.
So why the price cut? Well, Lucid Motors have been hot on the heels of their competitors in an effort to be an alternative EV that offer long-range performance in its single-motor vehicle. The model S rival, Lucid air, was later announced to be $77,400 ($69,900 after tax credit). In a world of free market and competitive pricing, we not start to see the prices of EV’s take a turn south in a bid to retain or poach market share. Lucid aren’t letting up either as they intend to roll out further vehicle options beyond the Sedan. Are Tesla worried? I think it would be foolish not to take notice and the Model S price slash is a loud and direct response to Lucid. It’s a fun yet intriguing sequence of events that is likely to continue if Lucid Air begin to pose a threat to Tesla.
The Lucid Air promises to deliver a little more range against the Model S, a meagre difference but it would appear that Tesla are keeping a close eye on the state of EV competition. Rightfully so as the early mover advantage in the field of EVs needs to be leveraged if Tesla want to be a dominant powerhouse in the years to come. We see the cost of the Model S coming down in general and this is no doubt due to scaling and possibly future releases that are about to deliver even greater speeds and range. Blaze it!

More competition is a great thing.
Definitely, it's only healthy for the future!
