In a shocker, Uber Technologies Inc paid to the tune of 100,000 usd to hackers to keep secret a massive breach only last year that exposed the personal information of about 57 million accounts of the ride-service provider.
The company said that it did fire two of its employees after discovery of the cover-up of the incident emerged into open.
It need be mentioned that currently Dara Khosrowshahi has replaced co-founder Travis Kalanick as CEO in August.
The breach occurred in October 2016 but Mr. Khosrowshahi said he had only recently learned of it.
