Welcome to ramblings of a (mad) dev!
I don't know why you are reading this, maybe you don't know either. This is a kind of devblog/gamediary/rant I started because I need a place to talk about my game that is a bit more permanent than ramblings on discord. There might be some who read this without knowing about said game (really?), so lets lose a few words about what it is.
The game is a text-based RPG which currently runs on discord. Another one of those ey? Well, it is not your run of the mill discord game with about as much depth as a shallow puddle. I attempt to create the equivalent of a proper MMORPG, think World of Warcraft, but text-based. So exploration, combat (obviously), crafting and a proper economy and of course meaningful progression. May sound ambitious, mostly because it is. Not only is scale an issue, but the mechanics that make an MMORPG great have to be transferred into a text-based game. Preferably some of the things that are just bad about MMORPGs should be excluded.
Will I succeed? Who knows. But I am sure having fun trying. What is not so fun is scrolling up discord for minutes to find a written down explanation of something to link it to someone, hence this... blog.
Oh, before I forget it, that claim game needs a name. My production name for it is 4C or just claimgame, but as a pretentious marketing effective title I have chosen so far "Claimants of reality enclave", but as everything in the game this is subject to change. For now I will stick with claimgame.
Episodes of ROA(M)D will pop up eventually, if you are really interested you can follow. Following is a thing on social media right? Anyway, next time I will give a rough overview about what you do in the game and a bit of lore reasoning behind it.
