Hello Everyone. Its time to PICK UP THE MIC to tell you about "The top places to visit in Tezpur".
As you all know from my last blog that my hometown is in Tezpur. So I want to introduce you to the beauty of this place and the reason why it is called the "cultural capital of Assam" or "the city of eternal romance" or "the city of blood".
Here my list of top places to visit in Tezpur,
a) Chitralekha Udyan
Chitralekha Udyan, popularly known as Cole park (among locals) is one of the famous tourist destination.
The park was built in 1906 by a commissioner of Assam named Mr. Cole, and was later reconstructed by M.G.V.K Bhanu in 1996.
b) Agnigarh
Agnigarh is one of the most popular sightseeing destination of Tezpur as well as a favourite picnic spot for tourists.
This historical site is also known by the name ‘love site of North east India'. Agnigarh refers to fire fort or a residence amidst fire.
c) Nameri National Park
A beautiful tourist destination, Nameri National Park is spread in an area of 200 sq. Kms and is located in the foothills of Himalayas.
This park opens the door for you to view some of the rarest species of plants and animals.
d) Mahabhairab Temple
The ancient Mahabhairab Temple perched on a hillock on northern part of Tezpur is believed to exist since pre-historic times.
This ancient shrine established by king Bana contributes to Tezpur's glory and magnetic charm. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple houses one of the largest Shiva Lingams in the world.
e) Bhairabi Temple and Bamuni Hills
I listed these two places together because they are located at the same place very near to each other and anyone going to Bhairabi temple also visits Bamuni hills and vice versa.
On the outskirts of Tezpur, lies the consecrated site of religious sentiments, the Bhairabi Temple. Dedicated to Goddess Durga in the form of Bhairabi, the temple has legendary tales associated with it.
Bamuni Hills is a popular tourist destination in Tezpur with sculptural ruins dating back to 9th and 10th centuries. The influence of Gupta style of architecture is seen here. The stone carvings depicted on the walls of Bamuni Hills are fine specimen of architectural brilliance of the ancient age.
Well that's it for today. I will continue this in the next blog.
So its time to DROP THE MIC.
See you all next time.
