This gem on the country's North Pacific coast meets pretty much every requirement for seaside perfection— a pristine, protected shoreline, incredible wildlife (the area attracts nesting leatherback turtles) and excellent surfing. Swimmers should hit up Playa Ventanas, at the beach's northern end, for a sheltered bay perfect for swimming and snorkeling
